When I say ‘the breath controls the body’…. I really do mean the breath controls the body!!! 🥶

When strolling into the cold sea with .with.meraki at the beginning of January to start our cold water dips, as soon as the waves crashed up against my ankles I did question for a split second - what the hell have I committed too 🙄🤣) …

I thought ‘I teach us how to breathe- so DO IT LAURA WALK IN AND BREATHE!!’ 😫 (plus I didn’t want to let myself down nor Rachel, once I commit to something I always have to do it!)

The cold instantly took my breath away, I had never felt so cold so quickly!!!! I closed my eyes to initally take the visual awareness of where I was away and naturally took my ujjayi breathing. The breath symbolic to the calming, yet, strength of the ocean! And after 4-6 controlled breaths my muscles began to relax and I stopped crazily shaking! I opened my eyes to start soaking up my beautiful surroundings☀️🌊

I really did take for granted how ‘easy’ it is to breath ‘properly’ on my comfortable yoga mat, supported with my bolster, in a warm room, in comfortable clothes, calming music and the joy of knowing there are lots of you around!

It even clarified more, what I learn or teach in my classes can be put in to use into our everyday to day lives maybe when we are feeling out our comfort zone!

4 weeks in I am now hooked…. To
many more sun rise and sunset cold sea dips!! 🥶☀️

🌊 CLASS TIMETABLE UPDATE 🌊

As the days grow shorter, we find ourselves drawing inward, reduced motivation and energy! As a yoga teacher, understanding the effects of seasonal change is so important on our bodies, energy levels, mood shifts, and mental clarity. Therefore, I want my practices to leave you feeling your best! 🥹

With Autumn’s arrival, it is a gentle reminder of the need for balance, mirroring the harmony between light and darkness and self reflection. In my classes through autumn, we will be exploring many balancing postures (you may of already noticed👏🏻!) to help bring stability both physically and mentally to our lives, alongside, grounding practices to bring a stable foundation on and off our mats. Symbolically Autumn’s falling leaves reflect on letting go of habits, worries, or anything that does no longer benefit our lives!

(Being mindful yoga is a lifestyle change, not just your hour with me!) 🧘‍♀️
