So, we did it!

13.1 miles of pain …. I mean pleasure 🤪

That was super tough. There were some logistical issues that we won’t mention will we Anna Jaques? We got there in the end though. 😁😁🤪

That was super tough and we are definitely a nice pink colour in the after photo 🥵 😂😂

Hey Folks,

Myself and Anna Jaques have decided to run a half marathon to hopefully raise a bit of cash for K9-SAR who help find lost dogs and reunite them with their owners in the Yorkshire area (check their page out).

Recently we witnessed first hand the work they do and it definitely doesn’t come cheap!
Expensive camera equipment with SIM cards for remote access, thermal imaging, drones, traps to catch missing dogs as well as many more hidden costs. Often these are absorbed by the volunteers themselves who really do never stop!

Now, I know we have run a lot in the past so a half marathon doesn’t seem like much of a challenge….however, I’ve been up and down with injuries and still not 100% so personally this is going to be a difficult one for me to complete. Anna hasn’t run any sort of distance for 12 months either!

The race we’ve entered is the Vale of York Half Marathon on 7th September 2025 and is just under 4 weeks away 🫣😬

I know times are hard but if you could spare a few quid it really would mean a lot to us and would go to support some great work.

So, I don't post much on here but thought this was a great video and post from one of my awesome clients. Roxanne consistently shows up and has made huge changes to her strength in the time we've been working together. I buzz off seeing my clients progress! Best job in the world!!

What I’ve been up to lately….. 🏋🏻‍♀️
(Sound up for some Black Eyed Peas! 🎧)
I’ve been strength training now for just over 3 years.
Still in the trusty hands of Adam Wood -
aka AW Fitness.
Slowly getting stronger.
Lifting heavier.
I’ve had a few set backs in the past 3 years: an adductor tendon injury (from tree planting not weight lifting!), also going back to work full time meant life has gotten BUSY, but I still manage to get to the “garage of pain” twice a week most weeks….
I often don’t feel like going - but I always feel great when I leave!
I’ll be turning 50 next year and I feel like I’m going in to my next decade stronger than ever.
I can carry whatever I want, lift anything I need to, and kids at school know they can come to me with the jars they can’t open!! 💪
I feel great and I feel confident about how I look too.
For the first time in my 5 decades of life, since starting to lift weights 3 years ago - my clothes always fit.
No more yo-yoing between sizes…
I don’t look like Arnold Schwarzenegger - and stop press: I never will do!
Guess what ladies: lifting heavy weights doesn’t make you “bulky”!
It makes you solid and strong and have dense bones - and that’s worth all the effort of dragging myself to Adam’s garage - when I feel like flopping on the sofa instead!
And last but not least - 60 minutes in the gym with a PT is better and cheaper than 60 minutes on the couch with a shrink…
Thanks for always listening to me chewing your ear off in between sets too Adam! 😆You’re the best! 🤛

Time for an update on one of the AW Fitness family. 😁💪🏻

Adrian started training with me a little over 18 months ago. Weight loss being the primary goal along with getting fitter and stronger.

The main challenge has been managing an incredibly busy work/home life, which involves frequent trips away from home, making nutrition tricky to say the least.

However, he got on board with the nutritional coaching advice from the get go, working on changing habits that would benefit his goals.

On top of this he’s trained hard during our sessions, consistently trained outside of our sessions and listened to coaching tips about how to increase daily steps/activity despite being so busy in the office.

The results:

🔹Over 61lbs lost (nearly 4.5 stone/28kgs)! ✅
🔹Multiple inches/cm lost (29.73”/75.5cm cumulative)✅
🔹Feels great in himself ✅
🔹Fitter ✅
🔹Stronger ✅

I’m super proud of the hard work Adrian has put in. It’s a great example of what you can do when you’re ready for change - AWESOME 🤩 🤩 🤩

As 2024 comes to a close it’s time for reflection.

Another great year. Strength gains, cardio gains, speed gains, flexibility improvements and weight loss across the board…..incredible! 🤩

There are several clients who have done amazing things this year with weight loss goals and their pics will come in due course when they near the end of their journey….watch this space!

There is one person that deserves a special mention - Steph Tasker!

3 years and nearly 4 stone of body fat melted away! Changing habits, consistency, showing up, owning it and not hiding.

Steph sums it up in her own words in the last photo way better than I can.

I really do have the best job in the world 🌎 and really love seeing the progress made by the AW Fitness family! 🫶🏻 ❤️
