If alongside your classes, you'd like to use our facilities for your own workouts then we can help with that too! We're not a mainstream gym and don't offer access all day every day with lots of machine weights, but we do have "GymTime" slots available most days for our members and PAYG customers.

The sessions are not instructor led, but there is always someone around should you need help or advice. GymTime is a great option for "topping up" on your regular fitness classes with extra strength training, cardio work, calorie burning &/or power or olympic lifting.

Great to see the important work of the NeuroPhysiotherapists being highlighted in Geordie Hospital on Channel 4 tonight. I loved being part of this team a few years ago and fab to see all the positive work they’re still doing!

People living with long-term conditions have low awareness of the benefits of strengthening and fear it may make their symptoms worse, but they do recognise the role physiotherapy staff have in increasing participation, a new report from the CSP reveals.

The importance of strength...

Helping to make you STRONGER not bigger!

The common misconception with strength training is that you'll bulk up / add more weight through increasing muscle mass and as a result become heavier and slower.

The simple truth is that providing you continue your other forms of exercise and you get the balance of training correct then you won't bulk up!

The key for building strength for endurance sports is to focus on the right exercises with optimal number of sets and repetitions. Combine this successfully with your running / swimming / cycling etc, and you'll build strength, whilst not adversely impacting your weight.

If you can become stronger, whilst your weight maintains the same then you’re guaranteed to see big "gainz" in your performance but not in your muscle size!
