Most women I work with start by saying things like:

“I spend every weekend recovering.”
“My body aches all the time.”
“I’m exhausted before the day even starts.”
“I don’t feel like myself anymore.”

That was my client.

She was already diagnosed with chronic fatigue.
She was doing everything “right.”
Resting when she could. Managing energy carefully. Trying to keep going through work and life at the same time.

We didn’t start with intense routines or hours of healing work.
We started with helping her body feel safe again.

10 minutes a day.
Small nervous system practices.
Simple signals of safety repeated consistently enough that her body slowly stopped bracing for survival all the time.

Then the shifts started happening, not overnight but gradually enough that one day she joined a call and laughed:

“I’ve had so much energy… I cleaned the toilets.”

By week 12:

Candice's heart rate wasn't a heart problem. It was a nervous system stuck in threat mode. Her body had been bracing for so long it forgot how to come down. That's what chronic dysregulation looks like. And it shows up in your numbers before it shows up anywhere else.

Weeks one to four we built a regulation base. Simple, repeatable practices that gave her nervous system something it had never had. Consistency. Safety. A pattern it could trust. Nothing dramatic. Nothing that required her to revisit anything painful. Just a foundation.

Then came the TRE. Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises. The body's own built-in way to discharge stored stress. Not talking about it. Not processing it. Just releasing it. This is where everything shifted for Candice.

Then she had to have her dog put to sleep. Her heart rate crept back above 100. Her heart rate variability dropped again. This is the part most programmes miss. Life doesn't pause while you heal. The nervous system needs tools that work in real grief, not just calm conditions.

One TRE session with regulation practices either side. That's what I recommended. Not a medication change. Not a hospital visit. A single session using what her body already knew how to do. Her heart rate dropped from over 100 to the 70s the same day.

When your nervous system is constantly in survival mode your body never gets a chance to rest and restore, which leads to gut issues, skin flare ups, feeling wired the whole time.

This is supported bridge and it’s not about stretching.
When you hold this pose for 2–3 minutes, your body feels supported, and your hips begin to open. The hips are where we often hold unreleased emotion. Your nervous system gets the message: you’re safe.

That’s how you shift out of survival mode, sending messages through the body and not thinking your way out.

I kept it together at work only showing the version of me that felt safe but I was exhausted. Not tired, exhausted and my body kept sending me the bill. I just didn’t connect the two.

I was a corporate coach. Good at my job, I was even filmed doing it and the footage used to train new employees but I never let anyone see the weirder, queerer, funnier version of me that existed the second I left the building.

Every two weeks, without fail, a migraine arrived. Then IBS. Then a lost weekend in bed. I saw doctors. I tracked food. I tried everything.

What I didn’t try was understanding what I was holding on a daily basis

Then I found breathwork & somatics .
For the first time I stopped living in my head and started actually feeling what was happening in my body.
It was uncomfortable. It was also the first thing that worked.

I haven't had a migraine or an IBS flare in nearly seven years. Not because I fixed my gut or found the right medication but because I stopped asking my body to carry my squashed feelings

Now I teach these techniques to other women whose bodies are screaming at them with chronic pain.
I teach them how to let go of what they’ve been carrying and once they do that, the pain stops

You finally had a pain free day. You told yourself you were turning a corner, but you might be missing the tiny signs your body sends right before a flare up

1. Jaw tight when you wake up
2. Shoulders already raised before you leave bed
3. Shallow or noisy breathing
4. Scanning a room before you enter it
5. Flinching at small sounds that wouldn’t bother anyone else
6. Needing to know the plan before you can rest
7. Never fully switching off, even on holiday

These are signs that your body still thinks you’re in danger

The good days don’t mean the bracing stopped. They mean your threshold shifted slightly. The pattern is still running underneath.
