🌿 Summer Isn’t Easy for Everyone 🌿

At Kent Counselling for Schools, we know the long break can be tough for some young people — especially those who rely on the routine and support of school and their counsellor.

If you know a young person who is struggling, please let them know they’re not alone. Support is still out there, and there are people who care and want to help.

We’re holding every vulnerable student in mind this summer — and we’ll be here when school starts again.

Take care of yourself. You matter. 💛

It’s that time of year again — and it never gets easier.

Right now, our school counselling team is finding out which schools can continue with therapy next year… and which ones can’t.

And honestly, it’s heartbreaking.

At a time when young people’s mental health needs are higher than ever, more and more schools are being forced to cancel or cut back on essential counselling services.

We’re not just talking about budget lines. We’re talking about real people.

👉 Trusted school counsellors being told goodbye.
👉 Staff asking, “What are we going to do without you?”
👉 Vulnerable students losing someone they finally felt safe with.

It’s unfair. It’s damaging. And in many cases, it’s simply unethical.

Most of this comes down to money — and the sad fact that in the UK, school counselling still isn’t protected by ring-fenced funding. Some schools also lose support because of leadership changes (that’s another post entirely).

But the bottom line? Students and staff are paying the price.

We have to do better.
