Measles is a preventable illness. 10-20% of those infected can develop complications, some of which may be serious.
Vaccination remains the safest way to protect your children. You can check their vaccination status by looking at the NHS app (you may need to set up proxy access).
Your child’s red book may also show if they have had their measles vaccine (given as part of their MMR jab).
Reception can also check for you if you don’t have access to these.
A number of children have been hospitalised as officials urge families to check they are up to date with their vaccines.
