You think you’re using great products, you know the ones, they smell amazing, lovely and rich that melt off your make up or the ones which contain acids and actives that influencers tell you they’re obsessed with.
I say, throw them in the bin. They’re stripping your skin and causing irritation and imbalance.
Starting your routine with one cleanser and then double cleansing with another one is confusing your skin and making it go into ‘fight or flight mode’

Your skin’s greatest threat isn’t time, it’s exposure. Make sure you protect it.
Think of your skin like an apple that’s been cut in half. What happens? When exposed to the air, it goes brown or OXIDISES.
You can prevent this action by applying lemon juice (vitamin c - the master anti-oxidant) to the apple. Hey presto! The apply stays fresher for longer!
Make sure you are giving your skin maximum protection against its own oxidation and apply that serum!

Pores are actually tiny openings for hair follicles and oil to reach your skin’s surface. Their size is mostly determined by genetics, but things like excess oil, congestion, sun damage and loss of skin elasticity can make them appear larger.
Texture is normal. Skin isn’t supposed to look like glass in real life, but we CAN make it look and behave its best with a simple skincare routine that works for your skin and the RIGHT treatments. No gimmicks or trendy treatments.

Non negotiables for your healthy glowing skin.
Make sure that your cleanser is not stripping your skin’s barrier and yes I’m talking about those over the counter ‘gentle’ cleansers, perfumed cleansing balms, micellar waters and wipes. Mostly they aren’t gentle or for a sensitive skin. Beware!
An SPF is not just for the sunny day, it’s for EVERY day, even if you aren’t going outside. Use a smart one which protects your skin against pollution and blue light from your phone or computer as well as UV rays. Sitting in central heating, air conditioning or by a window is ageing your skin. SPF in your moisturiser or foundation isn’t enough.
Using a great Vitamin C serum straight into the skin after cleansing. We need vitamin c to keep our skin healthy. If it’s in a thick serum or moisturiser, it’s not doing anything for your skin. Use one that’s potent and fresh.

I’m Alison, Skinologist

My journey as a skincare professional began 18 years ago when I changed my career and retrained so that I could work closer to home and be around for my growing family. From the minute I did my first facial, I felt like a light had gone on in my head and that feeling has never left me. My passion for skincare has seen me become a college lecturer and then, not one to stay inside my comfort zone, I took on a role as Sales and Training Manager for top Mineral Spa Brand, Spa Find. For the last 7 years I have been travelling the UK training Spa Therapists and designing exclusive treatments for luxury spas such as Ragdale Hall and Eden Hall.

My next chapter sees me opening my skincare and massage clinic where I have partnered with 2 iconic skincare brands. I have something for everyone; Spa Treatments for the ultimate in relaxation and skin conditioning with Spa Find or results driven skin rejuvenation with exclusive, clinical brand AlumierMD.

I will be continually revising and refreshing my treatments to bring you exactly what you are looking for and am happy to bespoke any treatment for you.
