I want to tell you about a woman I know.
She's up before the house is.
Not because she has to be. Because it's the only hour that belongs entirely to her.
She walks the dog in the quiet of the morning. Comes home. Strokes the cat. And then the day begins in earnest, and it doesn't stop.
School run. Meetings. A quick check-in on her parents. Lunch eaten at a desk. More meetings. Mental notes about appointments, about the calendar, about what needs doing before tomorrow.
She's the one in the room who's already read the brief. Already spotted the gap. Already thought of the question nobody else thought to ask.
And then she's back in the kitchen. Steam rising. Family circling. The household running, because she runs it. Quietly. Consistently. Without anyone seeing quite how much she holds.
Somewhere near the end of the day, if she's lucky, she finds five minutes. A cup of tea that stays warm long enough to drink. The cat back on her lap. Just breathing.
She doesn't call it self-care. She calls it surviving.
I want to tell you about a woman I know. This woman is not just capable. She is extraordinary.
And tomorrow on International Women's Day, I want her to know that she is seen. Not just the competent, always-on version of her that the world gets.
All of her.
The tired version. The one who shows up anyway. The one who loves quietly, works hard, and keeps everything going without ever once being asked twice.
You are remarkable. 💜
