Yesterday I took part in hosting a MacMillan world’s biggest coffee morning.

Thank you to everyone who came along, baked, ate and donated! I was also showcasing my Tropic skincare Christmas range, profits from those sales will also go to MacMillan.

Together the total raised so far is £670.

The just giving donation page is still open for anyone who would like to donate to this incredible charity. They offer support to people who really need it and can’t afford it through their cancer treatment. Emotional, financial, physical support and much more, they fill a big gap that isn’t funded by the government or NHS.

Thank you for all the donations, the money is sure to go to good use. https://cm.macmillan.org.uk/25?pageId=18897473

This lovely lady came to see me at Future Dreams today, she had reconstructive surgery with implant to her left breast one year ago following her cancer diagnosis and presented with pain in her ribs, restricted movement and it felt ‘stuck and lumpy’. During her first scar therapy session we managed to free up the tissue to help it feel more comfortable and improve the range of movement. She was pleased with the outcome and there was a visible change too. Scar therapy can help improve movement and discomfort after surgery. Please get in touch if you are interested in how treatment can help. If you aren’t local to Sevenoaks, there are links in my bio to find therapists in other locations.

As a bodywork therapist, I see a lot of skin. That’s why I’ve completed my MASCED (Melanoma and Skin Cancer Early Detection) certification with —to be better equipped to recognise when something on the skin doesn’t look quite right and to gently guide clients toward medical advice when needed.

While radiotherapy is highly effective in targeting and destroying cancer cells, it can also cause scarring of the surrounding healthy tissues, leading to complications such as radiation fibrosis.

Radiation fibrosis can show as discolouration in the skin, restricted movement, pain and a feeling of tightness in the surrounding skin and muscles.

If this affects you then Scar Therapy massage can be hugely beneficial, it helps:
• Soften fibrotic tissue
• Improve range of motion
• Increase blood flow to the area
• Reduce discomfort and tightness

My client today presented with tightness and pulling across her mastectomy scar. She struggles to reach above her head to get things down from shelves etc. As you can see in the before picture she couldn’t reach far above her head. With some techniques and stretching we have made a difference in the first session. We are both looking forward to doing some more sessions to help further increase the range of movement and improve her strength in that arm. She also has some homework to help improve the tissue quality between sessions.

I recently completed a series of treatment with a lovely lady who had recently gone through breast cancer surgery. We did three sessions in total and both agreed that those three sessions was probably enough to make the positive change she was looking for. She is however always welcome to come back for more if she feels she needs it in the future. Above are some of the lovely comments that she shared at our third session. If you feel you could benefit from scar therapy then please feel free to contact me.

I recently had some photos taken by Juliet . I’ve never had any professional photos done before! As someone who doesn’t like having photos taken I have to say I’m really happy with these. Juliet brought lots of laughs and made it a really fun, relaxed session. I will be using these photos for my website and more when I get round to it!

When my client first came to me she was undergoing chemotherapy after surgery to remove two lobes of her right lung due to cancer.
Our sessions involved a combination of the following:
-Scar therapy to help heal the 5 incision points,
-Massage for her aches and pains post surgery,
-Diaphragm massage techniques and breath work to help with her breathlessness.

We also talked a lot about chemotherapy, the side effects and ways to help yourself through. It feels like a huge positive after my cancer treatment to be able to share some helpful tips.

I started working with this client in April 2024 and last week she felt that she didn’t need to come and see me any more.
This is a great milestone for her, she is so much stronger and doing so well with all of her self-care and home techniques.
Life seems to be back to a ‘new normal’ for her which is so lovely to see.
Of course my door is always open if such clients want to return but it’s also really healthy to realise when they no longer need my help!
I am seeing new scar therapy clients most weeks now, a huge range from c-section and hysterectomy to bowel cancer, mastectomy and more. Some come for one or two treatments and some stay for a year or more. Let me know if I can help you or someone you know.

On world cancer day I just wanted to share something from my experience. Scanxiety, is one of the worst parts, whether you’re waiting for a diagnosis, waiting to see how you’ve responded to treatment and if the treatment has been successful - it’s all terrifying and exhausting. So be kind to yourselves or loved ones going through the process and hopefully my tips above are helpful xx

I’m excited to announce I have signed up as a Tropic ambassador which means you can now purchase Tropic skincare through me.

I think Tropic is an amazing brand and I have used it for several years now. Even through my cancer treatment when my skin was sensitive through chemo and sore after radiotherapy. The products are natural and chemical free and there is something for every skin type.

I already recommend Tropic to my clients who have scars and sensitive skin through cancer treatment. So it feels like it makes sense for me to be able to offer these products first hand to my clients.

These are a few of my favourites:
1. Tamanu - great for scars, burns, and rashes, it has powerful, natural healing qualities.
2. Elixir - this was great when my skin was really dry through chemo, it gave me the moisture I was craving. Now I mix it with my moisturiser to make a rich night cream.
3. Cleanser and moisturiser - daily staples of mine and great for sensitive skin, there is an unscented range which I used through chemotherapy.
4. So sleepy range - a relaxing scent, I use this spray in my treatment room to help bring a sense of calm with every inhalation.

I really like the ethos of the Tropic brand - it’s cruelty free, made in the UK, chemical free and they give 10% of all profits to charity. The products are made fresh to order, don’t sit on shop floors or in warehouses so they don’t need to have added preservatives.

A range of the products will be available for you to try when you come for a treatment with me, or contact me if you would like to try or buy anything. You can buy through my shop on the tropic website or through me directly.
