✨☺️OH, WHAT A BEAUTIFUL DAY☺️✨

Paula was back in action at The Cedars yesterday, with another fabulous Rhythm & Reminiscence session...

With the autumnal season well and truly upon us, we didn't let the soggy weather dampen our spirits, as inside our cosy lounge we were celebrating the sunshine in our hearts!☀️❤️

From the Rodgers & Hammerstein classic film, Oklahoma, everyone enjoyed the song: 'Oh, What a Beautiful Morning!' Singing it with great gusto!

✨♥️HEARTFELT THANKS♥️✨

After recently having the privilege of caring for a very special man, one grateful family send us a very lovely gift...

A fabulous life-like animatronic doggy, which we have called 'Dave' the dog!

Already this dog is bringing so much joy to our residents, especially those who are living with dementia.

It's realistic movements and noises are just brilliant and the simple act of stroking him brings such a great comfort to those enjoying a little cuddle.

At the same time, the lovely Sheila received a visit from son, Andrew and his gorgeous dog, Loki!

Yesterday we welcomed the wonderful Tina J - Entertainer into our home, and one particular resident was having the time of his life...

The fabulous Dave, who ALWAYS makes us smile with his brilliant singing and dancing.

On a visit to one of our resident's rooms this morning, guess who we spotted...

Our loving house cat, Poppy!

Poppy was enjoying a cozy corner in one of her favourite spots next to someone who really treasures her company.

Curled up on a blanket, Poppy was enjoying the peace and quiet as she was doted on by her host.

Poppy brings so much joy and comfort to our home and trust us when we say, she is one pampered puss!🥰

✨☺️ACTS OF KINDNESS☺️✨

We really do have some incredible people here in Shaftesbury...

The folk from St Edwards Catholic Church recently showed immense kindness to our residents, by reaching out and offering some weekly visits to the residents here at The Cedars.

Popping in every Friday, the lovely Jane and friends, come along to the home for a natter with anyone who would like a little company and a chat.

These visits are so wonderful and enable our residents to stay connected with the community outside and also give them something nice to look forward to.

Thank you so much Jane and friends!

These visits are making the world of difference to many here in our lovely home. ☺️

Following on from our recent Halloween decorating, we wanted to show you the final flourish...

Residents have watched in awe and delight as the final piece of our Halloween puzzle were put in place - A set of orange & purple Halloween twinkle lights!

✨🎃HALLOWEEN READY!🎃✨

Big changes to our lounge were afoot recently...

With the Halloween almost here, we felt it only right and proper to get into the spooky spirit of things by decorating for the season!

We have repurposed our 'any season' tree (a tree is not just for Christmas!), and enabled our residents to help in donning it with some fabulous scary decorations.

Not only that, but we have banners and spider webs too!

❤️👶BABY LOVE!👶❤️

We had possibly one of the youngest ever visitors into our home yesterday...

The gorgeous two week old Indiana!🥰

Indiana is the most recent addition to the ever growing brood of grandchildren of Carer, Amanda, who was as proud as punch when she surprised everyone here at The Cedars with a very special visit and introduction to the newest addition to her family.

The epitome of a well behaved baby, as she was cuddled and adored by all who met her.

Thank you, Amanda, for bringing her in to meet everyone - She will be very welcome to come back any time.🥰

✨☺️THE LITTLE THINGS☺️✨

Here at The Cedars we know how important the little things are to our residents...

So when one of our lovely gentleman spoke out and said, 'I really fancy a beer...', his wish was our command!

Rallying around we managed to find him a beer, much to his delight.

With a response of: 'Oh, lovely!!!', we knew that we had made him that bit happier in that moment.🥰

So as the wonderful Kitty Kallen once sang - 'The little things mean a lot.'

After yesterday's post about the fabulous Kelly Dale Music's visit, we want to share another video...

Kelly was so good at engaging with each of our residents and knew exactly which kind of songs would go down well.

Here she is getting down to the resident's level and serenading one of our lovely gentleman, who particularly enjoyed this song!
