At Angel Holistic Care, we understand the importance of activities that not only engage, but also uplift those living with dementia.
Here are three wonderful ways to encourage connection, creativity, and wellbeing:
🩷 Listen to music
Music has a unique ability to unlock memories and emotions. Whether it’s a favourite song from the past or a soothing melody, listening to music can create powerful moments of joy. For those able, singing along or playing simple instruments can deepen engagement and spark meaningful interactions.
🩷 Start a new art project
Creative expression can be incredibly fulfilling. Activities such as colouring, knitting, crocheting, or painting provide a gentle way to explore new ideas and emotions. Don’t be afraid to try something different - art can be as simple or as imaginative as you like, making it a perfect outlet for self-expression.
🩷 Gardening
Spending time outdoors is beneficial for both body and mind. Gardening tasks like planting seeds, watering flowers, or tending to a small patch can boost mood, foster a sense of purpose, and offer calming sensory experiences. It’s a wonderful way to connect with nature and celebrate small achievements.
What new memories could these simple activities help create with your loved one?
