Independent Living - Caring For You At Home

Independent Living - Caring For You At Home Independent Living is a small, respectful and responsive home care service provider this in turn ensures that good quality care and support can flourish.

Our services are here to support you or your loved one, to maintain their chosen lifestyle. We believe that each client is unique, with their own individual preferences and needs. Independent Living ensures that you or your loved ones receive the care that is wanted and at the time you or they want. It is crucial that you are involved in all the decision making and have a crucial role in the creat

ion of a personalised care plan. At Independent Living we understand that clear transparent communication is vital to ensuring peace of mind to our clients families and friends, as such all daily records and the care plan are kept accessible in the clients home. Here you will find all the crucial details required to contact our office.

At Independent Living we don't believe it is possible to provide good quality care in 15 minutes, this is why we don't offer this level of support. We ask and prefer that all of our visits last for a minimum of 1 hour, this allows us and you or your loved one the time to fully engage and understand one another. Once all care and support is completed and if time remains, our CareGivers will provide companionship and look to build their relationships with you or your loved ones further. When we say a visit will be 1 hour, we mean it will be 1 hour.

We had such a lovely visit from Isabella during a session with Independent Living✨

Isabella had a wonderful morning with us and got fully stuck into nursery life. She especially enjoyed spending time in our Forest School, where she helped prepare a delicious vegetable stew and even made apple crumble – all cooked on the fire for the children to enjoy🔥

Back inside, the fun continued with lots of creative activities. Isabella joined in with crafts and wasn’t afraid to get messy… even ending up with a splash of purple paint on her🎨

It was fantastic to see lovely interactions throughout the morning and how naturally she engaged with the children. Thank you for visiting us, Isabella – we already can't wait for the next visit😊

Last week, Maurice took his first trip on the local buses to attend his lunch club, after his usual taxi service was no longer able to help.
He was accompanied by one of our wonderful Care Givers, Debra.

From what we've heard, he's already really looking forward to doing it again this week — and many more times to come!

Today we had the absolute pleasure of welcoming two lovely ladies from Independent Living – Caring You For At Home for their very first session with our preschool children.

Together they made pitta pizzas, enjoyed cutting and sticking crafts and most importantly shared smiles, laughter and conversation. It was such a special atmosphere in the room🥰

Intergenerational experiences like this are so meaningful. They help our children to develop empathy, confidence and communication skills, while learning to build relationships with different generations. For our visitors, it offers connection, purpose and the joy that comes from spending time with little ones.

Bringing generations together creates something really beautiful, a sense of community, belonging and shared happiness. At the end of the session, they were also able enjoy a chat together, building their own social connections too💕

How to Talk to a Parent About Accepting Care 😇🏠💙

1️⃣ Pick the right moment
Avoid bringing it up during a crisis or argument. Choose a calm, relaxed time.

2️⃣ Make it about support — not independence
Instead of saying:
❌ “You can’t manage anymore.”
Try:
✅ “We just want to make things easier for you.”

3️⃣ Focus on low level support first
Start with light support — like help with shopping or cleaning — rather than full personal care.

4️⃣ Listen to their fears
Many parents worry about:

- Losing independence
- Strangers in their home
- Cost
- Let them speak. Reassure them.

5️⃣ Involve them in decisions
Choosing the provider together can make a huge difference.

Remember — accepting care isn’t giving up independence.
It’s about staying safe, comfortable, and at home for longer ❤️

If you’d like advice about starting this conversation, we’re always here to help.
