πŸ“ŒMobility of intradural nerve root.
πŸ‘‰Upper image: in the upper lumbar region the axilla, or point of departure of the root sleeve (arrow) is located well below the disc level. An L1–2 herniation (green) impinging upon the dural sac will tend to displace rather than compress the L2 root.
πŸ‘‰ Lower image: in the lower lumbar region the axilla is located at or sometimes above the level of the disc. An L4-5 herniation here (green) encounters a nerve root which is relatively immobile and this is more likely to cause root compression

🧿 What does your walking pattern say about you?

πŸ“œ Studies have shown that your walking speed at age 45 is a strong predictor of your physical and mental health later in life…

πŸ’‘ KEY Point:

πŸ‹οΈβ€β™‚οΈ Sarcopenia: as the body ages, muscles lose mass, strength and quality - and is preventable and often reversible.

πŸ’ͺ Preparing to lift weights/strength training is essential to help prevent injury and prepare for exercise/activity, especially from the middle stages of life πŸ‘€ . . .

Your walking speed in middle age can be a good predictor of your health in later life.
