New testimonial: A fantastic and rewarding thing to hear as a therapist is that someone has learnt through your sessions how to now be their own therapist.

My ACT/CBT sessions involve a lot of learning, whether this is practicing new ways of managing thoughts and feelings or learning how to use tools to understand and solve your problems.

Depending on what your main problem is I will usually recommend books to you for in between the sessions and we sometimes plan which chapters to read depending on what we have done in a session. There’s always an exercise to practice each week in between sessions.

I really had to push myself this morning but look what happened- sub30 5k ✅💚 😀. I wasn’t sure it was going to happen but those longer runs must have helped. Sub60 10k next! 🤞🏻🤞🏻

SELF CARE; good self care can take on many forms. It could be about ensuring that you get enough sleep or relaxation time. Maybe it’s about getting out in the fresh air and exercising. Treats or treatments. Perhaps it’s about what food you decide your body needs today.

Self care helps to establish balance and avoid burnout. Sometimes you may need extra self care to restore balance or relieve stress in a particular area of your life.

🪣Stress bucket; Imagine you have a bucket which gradually gets filled up as you experience different types of stress. Depending on what’s happening in your life, sometimes it may feel quite empty, sometimes full.

Self caring actions can help to relieve some of this stress. You can think of this as like a tap or holes in the bottom of the bucket 🙂

Check in with yourself this bank holiday weekend, how does YOUR stress bucket look? Do what it takes to let the stress out of your bucket!

CHOICE POINT: if you have worked with me we will have used CHOICE POINT formulations together to map out your recent problems and to understand what is maintaining them.

Throughout our therapy you will have learnt to use a choice point to boost your recovery in-between sessions and after sessions have ended.

The more you practice using this simple tool the easier you will find it to make sense of your responses to difficult situations, thoughts and emotions.

The tool shows us where our potential choices are and highlights what we may want to unhook from while reminding us of what matters.

This tool, developed by Dr Russ Harris has become central to my ACT practice.

TOOLKIT: sometimes people just need a couple of new tools to break free from anxiety.

Louise came to therapy with a lot of knowledge about her OCD and how to recover but was still a little stuck with anxiety. A new way of approaching this has being transformational. Super work Louise I’m so proud of you and I’m confident that you will continue to flourish with your relapse prevention plan and new toolkit ⭐️

We are often capable of so much more than we think we are 💚 A recent testimonial: “I started seeing Shari to help with some longstanding issues with low mood and anxiety.
