Bare Birthing - Antenatal Courses & Hypnobirthing in Sheffield

Bare Birthing - Antenatal Courses & Hypnobirthing in Sheffield Group & Private Antenatal Courses with Hypnobirthing for expectant parents in Sheffield These courses are run by me - Lucy. Let me help you to achieve that!

Note: this is a new version of Bare Birthing's page, as I lost access to the other one. I fell in love with hypnobirthing after the wonderful experience of the birth of my first baby. As such I learnt that birth is not something we simply have to 'get through'. A healthy baby is not 'all that matters'. You matter, what you want matters, your experience matters. A positive birth is such a fantastic stepping stone into new parenthood, and one that we all deserve. Courses are held at the Sheffield Sling Library in S1.

Give birth with confidence!
Join the Positive Birth Workshop on 11th Feb at Hagglers Corner, and discover how much power is in your hands when it comes to birth. Learn about your incredible body, the teamwork you and baby do to bring them into this world, and crucially how to make informed decisions when it comes to your maternity care.

Plus, enjoy some guided pregnancy relaxation and gentle movement, and get to know other local mums in the area!

There's just a few slots remaining. Find out more and book here: https://bit.ly/PositiveBirthWorkshop

(I use the terms 'Hypnobirthing' and 'Positive Birth' interchangably for this workshop - because really the crux of real Hypnobirthing is simply arming you with ways to ensure you have a positive birth experience, no matter where or how you birth your baby ❤️)

However or wherever you give birth, we all deserve to feel absolutely in awe of what our bodies and our babies have achieved in this incredible transition into parenthood.

I’m still trying to find the words to describe the birth of my second baby girl, Mila 🥰

I feel so much joy and power every time I think about it. I replay it every time I close my eyes.

I feel so incredibly lucky to have had two absolutely transformative and spectacular births. I really believe everyone should get to feel like this about their birth and that’s why I do what I do!

I’m really looking forward to sharing the whole story ❤️

I recently was lucky enough to have a gorgeous cuddle with a Bare Birthing babe 🥰 I was a bit worried all the oxytocin might shift me into an early labour, but thankfully my own baby is still happily snuggled up inside for now.

I also had the most wonderful and emotional call from another brand new mumma this week, who rang to tell me that despite all kinds of challenges she had had the birth she was dreaming of. It was truly wonderful to hear the difference the knowledge she had gained from the course and the accompanying support had made to her experience 😭❤️

I am obviously not teaching right now, but I am working on a self-led online version of the Bare Birthing course with all the same invaluable information. I would hate for anyone to miss out on this vital preparation just because I am busy having my own baby! I’m hoping it will be ready in a couple of weeks, and it’ll be hosted on the website at www.barebirthing.com.
Stay tuned!! ❤️

I made my own cord tie! ☺️🧶

I’ve read about them as an alternative to the bulky plastic clip that gets put on baby’s cord after birth and wanted to give it a go. Soft against the skin, less likely to get caught on things!

It is by far not the most perfect example of crocheting you will find on the internet, but I love the idea of something I made being one of the very first things to be ‘worn’ by my baby 🥰

Has anyone else used a cotton cord tie after birth?

New cycle of 4T starts Tuesday the 13th June - booking essential!

Since it's humble beginnings in Rosie's front room, 4T has constantly adapted to better serve its families. Now that we've returned to in-person sessions in the Snug, we have decided to continue to offer a live online discussion group via Zoom. We hope this will benefit not only our members outside of Sheffield, but also our local members and their partners who are unable to visit the Snug on Tuesday mornings.

Tell me you’re 35 weeks pregnant without telling me you’re 35 weeks pregnant 😂

I should also have some coconut oil this picture somewhere!

From 34 weeks there’s a few extra things we can do to help prep our bodies for labour!

🫘 Eating Dates: eating around 6 dates a day in the last weeks of pregnancy has been proven to help the cervix to soften and even lead to the first part of labour (uterus surging upwards and cervix opening) being shorter! Plus a lesser chance of intervention, reduction in postpartum bleeding and increased chance of spontaneous labour. Worth a try! (But if you hate them, do not feel like you need to force yourself to eat them!!)

🍃Drinking Raspberry Leaf Tea:
Up to 3 cups a day can help ‘tone’ the muscles of the uterus and increase blood flow, helping your surges be even more efficient in labour!

✌️Perineal Massage: from 34 weeks our bodies have a surge in the hormone Relaxin, which helps our skin and tissues stretch and our pelvis to have a bit more wriggle room for baby to make their way through! This makes it a good time to start to encourage the skin of the perineum to stretch with gentle massage, which is thought to reduce the risk of tearing during birth.

I’m very thankful to have on the doorstep for high quality organic versions of these things! 🙌
