If your toe is red, sore, swollen or threatening to ruin your week, you don’t need to sit on it and hope for the best. We see these all the time and can usually calm things down quickly and safely.
Early help = less pain, less drama, better outcomes.
If it’s flaring up, you know where we are 👣

Quick reminder:
Your feet aren’t meant to look like anyone else’s.

Different shape.
Different size.
Different walk.

And that’s not a problem, it’s just human.

⚽️ This week we’ve seen 3… yes THREE footballers with painful subungual haematomas.

All three developed symptoms shortly after wearing new football boots.

A subungual haematoma is when blood collects under the toenail following repeated pressure or impact. New boots can be stiffer or tighter than expected, leading to increased pressure on the nail and some very uncomfortable, throbbing pain.

We treated these by fenestrating the nail – those tiny dots you can see in the photos – allowing the trapped blood to escape.
The before and after images were taken just minutes apart, and the relief is literally instant once the pressure is released.

If a nail becomes dark, painful or feels like it’s pulsing, it’s usually worth getting it checked rather than trying to push through it.

Storm Goretti is on its way 🌨️
Are your feet prepared?

Snow and ice can be seriously treacherous in our beloved hilly city (Sheffield, I’m looking at you 👀). Cold, slippery pavements are when slips, ankle twists and foot flare-ups love to make an appearance.

So here are my top 3 tips to keep your feet warm, toasty and SAFE ❄️👇
👢 Choose footwear with proper grip
🐢 Slow your steps on ice
🧦 Keep feet warm and dry with the right socks

Plus… a flying visit from Cooper the Pawdiatrist 🐾 because obviously he’s in charge of winter foot safety.

Stay upright. Stay warm. Look after those feet.

Curacorn never fails to amaze me. This little corn has completely gone and the skin looks brilliant. The difference in comfort for the patient is huge.

Turns out the quickest way to say thank you to our brilliant GPs, osteos, physios and chiros is… chocolate. Because when healthcare professionals work together, patients win.
Also: yes, in the video I am clinging to the chocolate like it’s my firstborn. Don’t judge me – teamwork is sweet, but so are the chocolates!
