Can we talk about new mum isolation?

The years are short but the days can feel SO long.

Early motherhood can be lonely. You can be surrounded by tiny noises all day and still feel like you haven’t spoken to another adult in forever. It’s such a weird mix of love, exhaustion, and isolation.

If that’s you right now — you are not alone! 💗

Sometimes what helps most is just having a cuppa (even a cold one!) and chatting with someone who gets it. There are some lovely online groups and virtual meet-ups out there — spaces where you can just show up as you are. No pressure, no judgment, just real conversation and connection.

I'm involved with Mums Nourished (On instagram ) which is a faith-based meet up for new and expecting Mums on a Wednesday lunchtime (1pm UK) We have space to chat, pray together, a theme and short bible reflection.

👉Sign up here: visit https://app.acuityscheduling.com/schedule/c17a1979/?appointmentTypeIds[]=80447765

But if that's not your vibe there are other online meet ups and virtual cuppas- such as Emma Inglefield's Monday virtual coffee morning at 9.30 for new and expectant Mums.

👉Sign https://www.byyoursidedoula.co.uk/virtualcoffee

The most important thing is you find something that's the right fit for YOU.

You don’t have to do this on your own. Reach out, message another mum, or join a virtual cuppa. Sometimes that tiny bit of connection can change your whole day. ☕💞

Just love my new diary and wall planner ordered from Hannah
My little work space is gradually filling up with beautiful pieces of her work.
Red is one of my all time favourite colours. I wear it a lot, having learnt that I’m best suited to ‘Spring’ colours a few years ago❤️
It is very significant throughout the year for me, in the church I attend- particularly representing the Holy Spirit. As a doula who is a Christian I am never separated from my faith, or the Holy Spirit.
I have yet to meet anyone who doesn’t agree birth is a wholistic experience, including a spiritual one. I love the conversation this starts, and the way it influences our work together, no matter whether a client has a different faith, no faith or shares the same belief as I do.

You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Psalm 139:13

Holiday mode in full swing and am loving my 1st book. The man on the plane next to me did give me a look as though he wondered why on earth I’d possibly want to read about my childbirth at my age!😆
Thank you for the book it’s brilliant! has written this in the most readable and personable way. I highly recommend Faith Filled Childbirth, no matter what faith you have.

The theme for this year’s World Breastfeeding Week is ‘Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems.’

There are many ways I can support you to breastfeed- education and information before your baby arrives, practical support, virtual support when you suddenly need help or want to chat, guidance and emotional support, signposting when necessary, helping you build up your breastfeeding village, chatting with grandparents, family and friends so that they can best support you, sibling support while you feed, holding and watching baby so you can sleep between feeds… the list is endless and always planned specifically for you and with you.
No one else’s breastfeeding journey will look the same as yours. Building the best support system around you will not only benefit your baby, but you too.

After quite a few months of working together a last visit is always bittersweet. Witnessing labour, birth and parenting quite literally take you to your knees, yet knowing you are the strongest version of yourself now, that you’ve ever been.
It’s such a privilege to walk this journey with new parents, taking time to prepare, to learn, to embrace; then to be still and take time to be nourished and nurtured.
We all pass through storms in our lives. They shake, shape and mould us, and sometimes we need a little help to recover. This card, with mention of an anchor in a storm resonates with me completely. I know my anchor is firmly in my faith. However, that doesn’t mean my life has been free from storms… far from it!

We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.

💛She was my anchor when I needed it the most💛

It was a huge step of faith to give up my ‘safety net’ of a job that I’d known and loved for 34 years, and throw myself into something new… but it was most definitely one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Last week most beautiful card came through my door with words of affirmation and encouragement, written especially for me.
I’m so thankful that, as is often the case, perfect words arrive at perfect moments- for me and for others.
As says today- God, I don’t want to miss out on my part of being a blessing to all the families of the earth. Interrupt me. Speak to me. Show me my divine assignment. Shape me, bless and protect me, so that I can be a blessing to many

What does ‘holding space’ mean to you?
What would you like it to look like?
For some it’s the opportunity to get some sleep, or jump in the shower. For others it’s time to be heard, and actually listened to. Sometimes it’s time to catch up with other siblings, and there are times when being ‘held’ is knowing someone has your back, is there for you, and you can actually just sit in silence.
✨To hold - meaning to support and prevent from falling✨
