With one in seven people in the UK suffering from tinnitus, the course will provide you with an advanced understanding of tinnitus, assessment and management of this distressing condition.

Delivered face-to-face in three consecutive days, we’ll cover concepts and management of tinnitus and hyperacusis, as well as information from a number of perspectives, including audiological, psychological, otological and neuroscience.

The Tinnitus UK helpline team is dedicated to supporting the tinnitus community, answering 3000 calls in the last year. If you or a loved one are struggling to cope with their tinnitus, our helpline can make you feel less alone and reassured that there is support available for the condition.

After calling the Tinnitus UK helpline, a caller said, "This is a literal lifeline for people with tinnitus. So often you're left with internet searches which are a wild minefield of fact and pure fiction. Family and friends don’t get it or understand and as it is a hidden disability it is so isolating. This is the only place in the UK where I feel understood and not alone. On some dark days it has been the light. Thank you"

Our helpline is open Monday-Friday 10am-4pm: 0800 018 0527

In June, Members of the Tinnitus UK team visited the NIHR Nottingham Biomedical Research Centre (BRC), long-time collaborators and the most prolific hub for tinnitus research in the world.

The BRC is a leading force in the quest to better understand, manage, and ultimately cure tinnitus.

Founded in 2009, the Nottingham BRC is part of a wider network of biomedical centres in the UK and is dedicated to translating scientific discoveries into real-world treatments.

During our visit, we were given a powerful insight into the sheer breadth and ambition of their work on hearing conditions – particularly tinnitus.

Good luck to James who will be walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks in 24 hours on July 22!

He says, "As a Yorkshireman I feel it's a rite of passage to hike the Yorkshire Three Peak, the three highest mountains in the Yorkshire Dales close to the Cumbria and Lancashire borders, and raise money for Tinnitus UK who are totally reliant on donations to stay alive to help the many millions of people with research into a cure for this horrible condition and coping strategies in the many hundreds of local groups nationwide."

Thank you so much, James, we'll be rooting for you! You can support James through his JustGiving page. (link in comments)

With the summer holidays quickly approaching, it is important to be mindful with those who have tinnitus. As it is an invisible condition, some people may not notice that somebody is struggling and it is important to make sure you can be as comfortable as possible in public spaces, especially when you're in a busy area.

Being social with tinnitus can be difficult, as 4 in 10 people with tinnitus change their social lives due to the condition.

Here are some tips on how you can make social gatherings easier and an example of what can be done to make it easier to cope in a busy area.

With the summer holidays approaching, many people will be flying home to see their loved ones or to go Abroad, but those who suffer from tinnitus may have an uncomfortable experience while flying.

Most people with tinnitus do not experience any problems whilst flying. If there is any adverse effect, it is likely to be only minor and temporary.

For a more comfortable flight, you can:

- Avoid using earplugs during a flight. When you seal out background noise, your tinnitus may become more noticeable.
- Sit in the front of the plane where the engine noise isn’t as loud. Anywhere in front of the wings should be quieter.
- Leave your hearing aids in place as you may find them particularly helpful during a flight.

You can find more tips and information on how to make flying more comfortable with tinnitus on our website (link in comments)

Our Tinnitus UK ACS earplugs were used at Glastonbury festival!

With many festivals taking place throughout summer, It is important to protect your hearing so you can avoid getting tinnitus or worsening your symptoms.

Earplugs help to protect your hearing in loud environments, but don't worry, although earplugs reduce the decibel level of the music, the clarity is still there, meaning you can still enjoy the music to its fullest.

We have earplugs available to purchase, you can find out more on our website (link in comments)
