🌿 May Yoga and Wellbeing Focus: Mindful Nature 🌿
This month, we’re encouraging children to slow down, step outside, and connect with nature. Noticing the sights, sounds, and textures around them helps build calm, focus, and curiosity 💛
🌱 Try this simple tip:
Spend 5–10 minutes outdoors together — no screens, no rushing. Ask questions like “What can you see, hear, or feel?”
🔍 Fun family activity:
Go on a nature scavenger hunt! Find leaves, flowers, rocks, or clouds and describe their colours, shapes, and textures.
🌬 Calm breathing:
Try “Leaf Breath” — slowly breathe in through your nose, imagining you're breathing in fresh, clean air from the leaves around you, then gently exhale. Repeat a few times to feel relaxed and grounded.
🧘 Nature Yoga Poses:
🌳 Tree Pose – Stand tall on one leg, foot resting on the other, arms reaching up like branches.
🦅 Eagle Pose – Wrap arms and legs together and focus on a still point.
🌿 Forward Fold – Gently fold forward and let your body hang like roots.
⛰ Mountain Pose – Stand tall and still, noticing your breath.
💫 Savasana – Lie down, close your eyes, and fully relax.
📚 Research Based Fact:
Research shows that mindful time outdoors improves children's ability to focus, lowers stress levels, and encourages natural curiosity. Even short, regular periods in nature can
have a meaningful impact on children's emotional and cognitive wellbeing.
Wishing you a calm and curious May filled with outdoor moments. 🌿💛
