Even if you feel completely well and have no symptoms, screening can help identify issues early, when treatment is most effective.

This morning, Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon at Thornbury Hospital, Miss Nour Alshurbasi joined BBC Radio Sheffield to discuss the topic of breast reconstructive surgery and its profound impact on patients facing breast cancer.

Miss Alshurbasi shared insights into:

- The different types of breast reconstruction available.
- The surgical process and how it supports both physical recovery and emotional wellbeing.
- The transformative impact these procedures can have on patients’ confidence and quality of life.

Miss Alshurbasi also emphasised the importance of attending breast screening services, whether or not you have symptoms. Early detection saves lives and screening is a key step in protecting your health.

We recently celebrated colleagues who had reached their long service milestones over the past three months. This celebration marks a moment where colleagues can gather and share their experiences alongside their manager to recognise their long contributions to Thornbury Hospital's recent and longer term success. With awards ranging from 5 years all the way up to 25 years, there was a lot to celebrate!

Staff and patients enjoyed a daily treat and It’s been a week filled with kindness and plenty of crumbs!

Our amazing Thornbury Physiotherapy Team provided free post-run massages in the event village, helping runners cool down, recover, and celebrate their achievement.

With liver disease on the rise and liver cancer cases expected to double by 2050, a few smart lifestyle tweaks can go a long way in positively impacting long term health.

“You don’t need to quit drinking entirely,” says Dr al-Joudeh. “It’s about understanding your body and drinking within safe limits.”
