DO YOU WANT TO MOVE FREELY AGAIN— with less of those daily aches and pains??

My goal is to help people get back to the things they love — to reclaim the freedom to enjoy the moments that matter most.
When your body holds you back, life can start to feel restricted. Things that should bring joy can feel out of reach.

I understand how discouraging it is to watch others stay active — playing sports, chasing their kids — while your own body no longer feels up to the challenge.

But it doesn’t have to stay that way...

Every day, I see people discover that with the right support, they can move more more freely again and experience life with fewer pain and limitations.

LIFE WITH FEWER LIMITATIONS
You can start to notice less tension and more freedom in how you move.
Simple things — walking, bending, reaching, lifting — no longer feel like obstacles.
The hobbies you once loved no longer seem impossible.

You can regain confidence, comfort, and the freedom to enjoy life on your own terms again. Sound good?

HOW I CAN HELP
With the right guidance, your body can recover strength, restore movement, and release tension that’s been holding you back.

I’m Carol, and for over 30 years, I’ve been helping people move more freely and return to the life they love.
Whether it’s through in-clinic appointments, home visits, or virtual sessions, I make sure every treatment plan is tailored to your needs, your lifestyle, and your goals.

Sod it!
No, that’s not my reaction to life in the current world but a reflection of my weekend exercise!
I’ve decided to change the garden to fit in a greenhouse a new path and a vegetable patch so I’ve been digging up some grass (the sod part!)
Exercise really doesn’t have to mean joining the gym or sweating it out in a class, it’s finding something you enjoy and pushing yourself to do a little bit more than you usually do.
Yes I can feel my legs and arms after a few hours digging but that’s a positive response to having used some different muscles…and I get the joy of seeing the results of using all this energy (and you don’t get that in a gym class do you?)
Still a long way to go…and no RHS Chelsea medals in sight yet🤣 but you’ve got to start somewhere haven’t you?🪴👩‍🌾🫛🍅🧄🥕🥬
What exercise have you been enjoying recently?

If you’re aching a bit more than you expected, or can’t do the things you enjoy give me a call on 07507490888 or visit the website at www.chapeltownphysiotherapy.co.uk to book online.

It's and this morning is time for some very important training for me.
As a physiotherapist I get to see plenty of skin and for some of my patients I may even be the only person who will look at their back or notice a change. Knowing what to look for and when to advise my patients to see a GP is really important.

OSTEOARTHRITIS - Why Joints Aren’t Like Car Tyres!

One of the biggest misconceptions about osteoarthritis (OA) is that joints wear out like car tyres; ie. that the more you use them, the worse they get.

THIS SIMPLY ISN'T TRUE!

You may be surprised to hear that osteoarthritis (or OA) isn’t simply mechanical "wear and tear"

It’s a complex condition involving:

CARTILAGE degeneration.

Structural changes in BONE– hardening (sclerosis) and the formation of bone spurs (osteophytes).

INFLAMMATION – local to the joint but also influenced by metabolic factors – obesity, diabetes, diet etc – that contribute to systemic (whole system) inflammation.

It is not simply mechanical ‘wear and tear’ and as such exercise and those activities you enjoy are NOT necessarily something to avoid.

OA is NOT an inevitable journey to a joint replacement!

Book an appointment with Carol to see what you can do to try and relieve your own symptoms and what the right management may be for you.

DO YOU LIVE WITH CHRONIC PAIN?
You're really not alone. Based on best estimates chronic pain impacts a massive 30-50% of the population. But have you ever thought why we get persistent or chronic pain?

Short-term pain is called ACUTE PAIN. An example is a sprained ankle.
Many acute pains are like an alarm telling us something is wrong. Most minor ones are easy to treat; others may be a sign of something more serious. For example the pain of a broken leg will make us rest the leg until it heals. This type of pain is helpful.

Long-term is called Persistent or Chronic Pain. Back trouble or arthritis are examples.

PERSISTANT PAIN often serves no useful purpose. The messages from the warning system linked to long-term conditions like arthritis or back pain are not really needed - just annoying. Over time, it may affect what we can do, our ability to work, our sleep patterns. It can have a strong negative effect on our family and friends too.

Take a look at the following really helpful websites or call and book an appointment with Carol 07507 490888 to see how you can better understand and manage your own pain.
