Benefits of Massage for pregnancy
- When done effectively, has been proven to reduce stress hormones within a pregnant woman’s body. It also increases the levels of hormones which tend to be low in women who are depressed.
- It leads to a reduction in anxiety and free floating concerns. There is often an improvement in general mood following a massage.
- Pregnant women often find a massage rejuvenates their energy because it gives them an opportunity to rest and completely relax.
- For some pregnant women, massage can relieve nausea and heartburn. In others, it can make these worse though.
- Relieves the everyday discomforts of pregnancy such as an aching neck, sore back, and heaviness in the pelvic bones, leg cramps, swelling of the ankles and feet and oedema (fluid retention).
- Leads to muscle relaxation and relief of joint pain. Pregnancy massage can be particularly helpful for women who experience sciatic nerve pain.
- Builds a feeling a sense of connectedness with another person as well as building a rapport. Many pregnant women experience a change in their intimate relationship with their partner and suffer from being “touch deprived”.
- Pregnancy massage may improve the progression of labour with better health outcomes for both the mother and her baby. More relaxed mothers tend to have a lower risk of interventions during labour and birth.
- Pregnancy massage can provide an opportunity for women to completely stop what they are doing and focus on the pleasure of having someone else do something just for them.
- Improved sleep due to feeling less muscle tension and generally less uncomfortable.

Reflexology / Thai foot massage is the application of pressure onto particular areas of the soles of the feet. A reflex action in another part of the body is stimulated by the manipulation of each specific area. Foot reflexology massage uses hands, fingers, thumbs, knuckles, and a rounded wooden stick with lotion or oil. Reflexology foot massage as practiced in Thailand is an ancient therapeutic procedure that has become popular today. Originally the knowledge and techniques were closely held secrets kept alive and passed down through generations by the Buddhist monks of the Thai Royal Palace. Thai foot reflexology is working with the feet, lower leg and knees, this 2000 year old, highly reputed session frees up blocked energy within the body's many sense lines (Thai-based meridians) to produce a deep and unique feeling of balance, relaxation and well-being.

Thai Deep Tissue is a type of massage therapy which uses firm pressure and slow strokes to reach deeper layers of muscle and fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles). It's used for chronic aches and pain and contracted areas such as a stiff neck and upper back, low back pain, leg muscle tightness, and sore shoulders.

Traditional Thai massage provides relief to a multitude of health concerns and is a part of an integrative care approach to many medical conditions. Like other Eastern medical practices, an important element is the life force or energy. This life force energy flows along channels which can become blocked causing an excess of energy in one area of the body and a deficiency in another. Traditional Thai massage is more energizing and more precise than other forms of traditional massage. By stimulating pressure points to open the body’s energy pathways, it allows healing energy to flow freely to heal the body.
How Does Arthritis Affect Your Joints?
Arthritis is, simply put, a disorder that involves inflammation of one or more joints. There are over one hundred types of arthritis with the most common being osteoarthritis or degenerative joint disease and is due to trauma, infection, or aging. Other types of arthritis include psoriatic arthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and those related to autoimmune diseases. The main complaint of those suffering from arthritis is joint pain which can be localized to one joint or can be diffuse and widespread. This is due to the inflammation within the joint space causing swelling of the tissues.
How Can Traditional Thai Massage Treat Arthritis?
According to thaimassage.com, “the ancient Thai spiritual way of healing is by “laying on hands” to manifest the spiritual energy of the heart in a practical way.” In Traditional Thai massage, all of the rheumatic disorders are considered to originate from the same syndrome. They are addressed according to energetic or elemental imbalances, first, the emotional or psychological second, and the physical symptoms last. The end result is the restoration of a balance of energy, reduction in pain and inflammation, and a return to a more functional capacity.

Hand massage helps loosen tight hand muscles, reduces scar tissue and adhesions that cause decreased finger and wrist mobility, and improves your hand's various ranges of motion and flexibility. Trigger finger is one injury that responds particularly well to massage therapy. According to the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, a trigger finger occurs when your ability to move the tendon that opens and closes your finger is reduced, causing your finger to lock or catch when you extend it. The cause of trigger finger often is unknown, although it occurs more frequently in women than men, and it most frequently affects people between the ages of 40 and 60 years of age and those suffering from conditions such as diabetes and rheumatoid arthritis. Repetitive-Strain.com states that hand massage—specifically, cross-fiber friction massage immediately followed by active and passive stretches of your finger and ice massage of your affected tendon—is an effective method for treating your trigger finger and improving your finger's range of motion.

Four Hand Massage Session
Two therapists work on one client, often using synchronised moves and can be like experiencing two full body massages at the same time. Good massage therapists will use the client’s body as a form of canvas onto which they choreograph slow, detailed moves of varying paces and pressures. There are a number of different styles of four-hands massage. Four-hands massage is generally more expensive than other forms of massage, since two therapists must be compensated for their time and skills. When two therapists and four hands hit your body, your mind reacts differently. At first you might find yourself trying to keep track of the therapists, where each one is and what each one is doing, struggling to keep it all in a very logical order in your head. But very quickly your brain realises it’s not sure who is doing what, and gives up control. This is a powerful treatment, highly recommended.
