📣 Calling all class clowns!

Our ‘Funny Business’ stand-up challenge is BACK for 2026.

In this adrenaline-packed comedy fundraiser, you can learn how to write and develop your very own stand-up routine.

You’ll learn the tricks of the trade in group coaching sessions, led by a professional comedian.

🎤 You’ll then perform in front of friends, family, and colleagues – in the Memorial Hall at Sheffield City Hall!

Contestants are asked to raise a minimum of £2,000, in support of the one in two people in our region who will face cancer.

🚐 Ahead of (4 February), we’re taking a moment to reflect on the impact our award-winning Big Purple Bus (BPB) service has had across the region over the past two years 💜.

In this time, our BPB team has:

• Connected with over 21,500 people
• Attended 500+ events in the community
• Established 6 peer support groups
• Begun hosting workplace events
• Won 2 Sheffield Business Awards (Sheffield Chamber)!

– Nordic Walking 💜

We’re delighted to be providing funding for the “Two Poles and a Path" Nordic Walking group – which is based in Rawmarsh!

Nordic Walking is a low-impact exercise that’s great for your physical and mental wellbeing.

This group is for anyone over the age of 18 who has been impacted by cancer – whether that’s directly, or through a friend or family member.

🌿Sessions take place in local parks weekly.

No prior experience is required, and equipment is provided!

🎉 We’ve raised £1.4 million for our ‘see it. treat it.’ MRI simulator appeal!

Behind this major milestone is a true community effort. We’re so grateful to all of the individuals, businesses, and organisations which have provided unbelievable support 💜.

👟 Could 2026 be your marathon year? 🥇

In this event, you’ll slip, slide, and jump alongside hundreds of other fundraisers.

January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month 📆

Each year, over 3000 people are diagnosed with cervical cancer in the UK, but when caught early, it is one of the most successfully treatable forms of cancer.

The best way to reduce your cervical cancer risk is to attend your cervical screening appointment if you have been invited to one.

Other symptoms to get checked if you experience them include:
👉 Vaginal bleeding that’s unusual for you
👉 Changes to your vaginal discharge
👉 Pain/discomfort during s*x
👉 Pain in your lower back/pelvis

⭐ Let’s hear it for 8-year-old Abe and his fantastic fundraiser! ⭐

Both Abe’s mum and grandma have been treated at Weston Park Cancer Centre.

So, he decided to sell toys and books (plus some apples and blackberries!) to help our charity.

Abe raised £74, and even added in his piggy bank money to bring the donation up to £100 🥹.

Thank you Abe for your amazing support! 💜

Abe’s mum said: “I was treated by Dr Purohit for breast cancer in 2009 and my mum is currently being treated for thyroid cancer, which has spread to the lungs, by Dr Burnett.

“So this is a cause that is very close to our hearts. Thank you for the wonderful work you and the team do.”
