Jim’s Birthday Party 🎉
This afternoon (30th March), residents enjoyed gathering in the main lounge to celebrate Jim’s Birthday. We had a wonderful time singing and dancing along to some classics by many famous singers including Elvis, The Everley Brothers and many more all sung by the amazing Russ Elliott and a little bit of singing by the birthday boy. This made for a wonderful afternoon and put a smile on everyone’s face. 😃 🎶

Living Eggs Arrival 🐣
This morning, we had our living eggs delivered in the main lounge. We have 10 eggs which are 2 days away from hatching and we will have them for 12 days. Once the chicks have hatched residents and visitors will be able to handle the chicks. This is a lovely experience where we get to watch the eggs hatch and the little chicks grow.

Scrapbooking ☺️
This morning, Gordon enjoyed helping staff make his scrapbook which was lovely. We had a great time sticking in all the pictures and reminiscing on all Gordon’s favourite times at the home including Crucible tea dance, cycling without age rides, Ethel barge trip, parties and lots more.

In-House Church 😊
Sunday afternoon, residents enjoyed gathering in the conservatory for an in-house church session which was lovely. We enjoyed listening to the prayers and joining in singing the hymns. This made for a lovely and relaxing afternoon.

Knit and Natter 🧶
Residents enjoyed an afternoon of knitting (28th March) (for those who still can and remember how to or want to learn how) and nattering about past knitting projects for family. Some enjoyed looking at hand knitted toys, crocheted blankets, or even modelling fancy gloves and scarves. A pleasant way to spend an afternoon. 😊

Cycling Without Age 🚴🚴♀️🚴
Anne enjoyed a trip out to the Botanical Gardens with Peter as her pilot. A bit chilly but we wrapped up warm and braved the cold and wind to have a very enjoyable time, naming many different flowers/trees enroute. Lovely to say “Hello” to lots of passers-by and smile at all the young children and dogs. 😃

Quiz Afternoon 🤔
This afternoon residents chose to test their knowledge at a few different quizzes, there was a winter quiz, a guess the tune quiz and a general knowledge quiz about the UK. This was great fun and we really enjoyed being fastest to the answer. Jim and Janet were awarded the overall winners.🙌

Active Games🎳
This morning residents enjoyed having a go at a few active games. We chose to play some indoor bowling, we set the skittles up in front of them and they took it in turns to see how many they could knock down. This was great fun and sparked a bit of friendly competition.
We then set the hoopla up and tried our luck with hooking the rope around the different pointed sticks. This ended up being a really fun and can’t wait for the next session. 😃

Social Afternoon ♣️♥️
Residents enjoyed lovely social event this afternoon (26th March), we gave them the option of a few different games, which they chose to play some dominoes.
This was great fun for all involved. Hugh seemed to have the luck on his side and won both games. We then saw if we could guess higher or lower cards with our giant playing cards. Everyone had a laugh with this and we can’t wait for the next session. 😃

Motion 🎈🎈🎈
Residents enjoyed the weekly motion session this morning. This included a number of exercises with different types of equipment such as pool noodles, resistance bands and pom poms. They all seemed to have fun with these sessions and particularly love the games of balloon tennis we play. Jean was voted the motioner of the week for her continued involvement in all the different activities. 😊

Golf in Society ⛳️
Residents participated in a small golf tournament, with each one demonstrating great skills and energy, making good competition. Jean was crowned champion after scoring the most points and a good time was had by all. 🙌😃

Memory Ball Games 🤔
This Morning Residents enjoyed a game of Memory ball, we each took it in turns to catch the ball and read out the question prompting memory recall. Residents enjoyed the physical element as well as the memory and reminiscence, we all had fun and were shocked at how many breeds of dogs that we knew 😊

Both The Home Manager and Group Managers at Hallamshire Care have extensive experience of the provision and management of residential care services and of a range of other housing, care and support services for older adults.
THE HOME MANAGEMENT
The Manager of Hallamshire is Scott Melville, who has the overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the home; he is qualified and is registered with the Care Quality Commission locally as the “Registered Manager”.
The Deputy Manager of Hallamshire is Anita Walters who is an enthusiastic and qualified individual that has had many years of experience in the Care Industry.
Before admission to the Hallamshire, we carry out a detailed assessment, often in conjunction with other health professionals, to ensure that our staff team is able to meet your care needs and that any appropriate equipment is in place. We encourage you and your family/friends to visit the Home before admission to meet staff and other residents, view the Home and your room and to allow time for us to answer any questions you may have.
We are available to help with unplanned or emergency admissions when necessary. However, where an emergency admission is required we will liaise with other health and social care professionals to ensure that we are able to meet your needs.
The home accepts both men and women generally over the age of 65 who require residential EMI Care. The home is not able to provide services for people who require 24 hour nursing care.
The home has 32 rooms, 15 of these are en-suite and some with personal shower facilities. All rooms are at over the regulation size. The home does not directly provide other services such as speech therapy or physiotherapy, but where residents have such requirements, the home will assist the resident to find such services with our extensive bank of outside professionals.
