I have been practising yoga for 25 years. I trained as a scaravelli inspired yoga teacher, one of my teachers was a feldenkrais teacher and one a physiotherapist. This has influenced my teaching. At present I am greatly inspired by intelligent yoga teacher Peter Blackaby. His methodology inspires me, as he answers the questions about why we do things....in a believable science backed up way. I attend his retreats and workshops.
For the last ten years I've been exploring other modalities of movement to keep up my interest and curiosity while practising. I began training with a psoas muscle expert Liz Koch and am now qualified to teach core awareness. This is a method of finding the fluidity of the body and hydrating and addressing issues of the psoas muscle. This muscle is located right at our core and is responsible for a whole host of body issues....backs...digestive....reproductive. Fascinating research. During my studies I was introduced to the MELT method which is all about rehydrating the connective tissue of the body through massage. Both core awareness and MELT make the use of balls and specific ways of self massaging. Very pleasurable, in fact pleasure is the guide that you are on the right track. My body has experienced lasting changes through these methods and so I'm keen to share them.
I have recently been learning about nutritious movement. Through this programme I am integrating a natural movement tempo through my day; learning how to integrate a wide range of movements because......"when it comes to health the goal of "doing exercise" is not to become better ( stronger, faster) at a narrow range of movements, but to become more capable of a large range of movements."
