Our Close the Circle seminar gave teams the chance to come together, learn, and reconnect.

Staff shared how much they valued meeting colleagues, taking part in team activities, and feeling part of a supportive work family. For many who work independently in the community, it was a reminder that they are part of a wider team.

Thank you to @ and @ for hosting us and providing a welcoming space for the day.

We spent the day at the Care Customer Conference with The Access Group Limited looking at how technology is developing within care services.

The main message was simple — technology should make care safer and more organised, not more complicated.

For us, it’s about using our systems well. Spotting risks earlier. Keeping information clear. Reducing unnecessary paperwork so our team can focus on clients.

Days like this give us time to step back, review what we’re doing and make sure the foundations behind the scenes remain strong.

Always learning. Always improving.

High-quality, person-centred support relies on skilled, confident teams.

At Aspire, training and development are ongoing and built into everyday practice. Our teams are supported through in-house learning, reflective practice, and shared experience, ensuring that support remains thoughtful, adaptable, and centred around individual needs.

Our approach focuses on understanding the whole person, promoting independence, and supporting positive risk-taking in a safe and considered way. Training is not a one-off event, but a continuous process that helps our teams respond effectively as people’s needs, goals, and circumstances change.

By investing in learning and development, we support our staff to provide consistent, high-quality support that respects dignity, choice, and lived experience.

Providing safe, respectful, and person-centred support starts with understanding the people we support.

The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training in Learning Disability and Autism is a required standard across health and social care. The training focuses on improving understanding, communication, and support for people with a learning disability and autistic people, helping to reduce health inequalities and improve outcomes.

At Aspire, we are currently rolling out this training to staff who work directly with individuals with a diagnosis of learning disability and/or autism. Our aim is for all staff in these roles to have completed the training by the end of May.

While the current focus is on staff supporting specific clients where the training is most relevant, we recognise the wider value of this learning and anticipate that the training will be extended more broadly over time.

Alongside our ongoing in-house training and reflective practice, the Oliver McGowan training supports our teams to provide thoughtful, informed, and person-centred support that meets required standards and individual needs.

Over the last three years, Aspire’s company-wide themes have intentionally evolved, reflecting where we are as an organisation and what we need to focus on at each stage of our growth.

Blow Your Own Trumpet gave us confidence, encouraging us to recognise our strengths and the quality of work being delivered across our services.

Goals gave us direction, helping us focus our efforts, set priorities, and work more intentionally towards shared outcomes.

This year’s theme, Close the Circle, brings that journey together. It focuses on delivering consistently, reflecting on practice, learning from experience, and using that learning to improve the support we provide.

By closing the circle between planning, delivery, reflection, and improvement, we strengthen our ability to provide thoughtful, high-quality, person-centred support now and into the future.
