At Medical Solicitors, we understand that the impact of medical negligence isn't only physical or financial. It can also be deeply psychological.

As a client-focused law firm, we're committed to seeking rehabilitation funding at the earliest possible opportunity, helping clients access support while their claim is ongoing.

As part of this approach, we're proud to be collaborating with EK Psychotherapies Limited, an experienced provider of evidence-based mental health therapies such as CBT and EMDR.

This collaboration reflects our commitment to ensuring clients are aware of trusted, professional mental health support available to them alongside the legal guidance we provide.

Nearly 100 children were harmed by Yaser Jabbar, a former Great Ormond Street Hospital limb reconstruction surgeon, an internal investigation has found.

More than a quarter of patients he operated on came to harm.

GOSH said it could not determine whether all the cases of harm were avoidable, but Jabbar's practice was substandard in many areas and this had undoubtedly caused harm.

Yaser Jabbar specialised in limb-lengthening and reconstruction for children with complex problems.

This month, we’ve been encouraging our staff to arrange a wellbeing activity. So our York team decided on a wellbeing walk around the historic City Walls.
We love a walk along the Walls because you get to see some stunning views of the city - even better when the sky is so blue!
Did you know it’s also the longest and most complete medieval defensive walls in England?

Today, Great Ormond Street Hospital is set to release its report into the actions of its former orthopaedic surgeon, Yaser Jabbar.

This follows concerns that hundreds of children were left with life-changing injuries following botched or unnecessary surgeries to treat conditions like limb length difference, club foot and dysplasia.

We previously covered this story on our website, looking at what happened at GOSH and some important reminders for patients about things like informed consent, duty of candour, and the right to a second opinion.

Ahead of the report release, you can read our blog here: https://www.medical-solicitors.com/news/yaser-jabbar-great-ormond-street-hospital-investigation/

This week is Cervical Cancer Prevention Week which has a big focus on the importance of cervical screening.
But what happens if a patient has been having regular screening and is then diagnosed with late-stage cervical cancer?
Well, then questions need to be asked about how this could have happened.

Our medical negligence lawyers have supported many women who have been diagnosed with cervical cancer after multiple cervical screening tests were misreported.

Due to the errors, these women wrongly believed everything was okay and were unaware that abnormal cells were developing into cancer. Being diagnosed at a later stage meant more invasive surgery like hysterectomies were needed, impacting their fertility.

Anyone who is diagnosed with cervical cancer after having normal smear test results should have their screening test results audited by the gynaecology team. This looks at all your screening for the previous 10-year period to check for any errors or discrepancies that may not have previously been reported back to you.

In our latest blog, we look at what other options patients have if they have experienced errors with cervical screening. Find the link in the comments.

A solicitor is for life, not just for your case work… if you have a good one that is!
Three years on from settling a claim, Caroline received this gorgeous bouquet from her past client wishing her well for another year.
This shows that, in clinical negligence law, claimants remember - and appreciate - how you made them feel throughout what can be an emotionally difficult process.

Cervical cancer is often highly treatable when detected early, but failures in screening, diagnosis or follow-up care can allow the disease to progress unnecessarily.
For Cervical Cancer Prevention week, our latest blog looks at:
🔹 How cervical cancer prevention works in the UK
🔹 When cervical cancer care errors leads to clinical negligence
🔹 What your rights are legally when care falls below reasonable standards.

Read it over on our website.

Pregnancy and birth should be a time of joy, trust and compassionate care. When that care falls short, the impact can be life-changing.

Here are three maternity-related cases we have supported in recent years:

🔹Forceps Injury Following Denial of Caesarean - settled for £280,000
We acted for a mother who was refused a caesarean section despite clear risk factors, including a previous shoulder dystocia and a large baby. A forceps delivery followed, resulting in substantial injury.

🔹Delayed Diagnosis of Appendicitis During Pregnancy Led to Miscarriage - settled for £92,500
We supported a woman whose appendicitis was not diagnosed in time while she was pregnant. The delay in treatment led to devastating complications and the loss of her baby.

🔹Wrongful Birth After Failed Sterilisation - settled for £20,000
We represented a mother of three who chose sterilisation so she could protect her health and her family, given a history of hip dysplasia. Due to clinical errors, the procedure failed, leading to an unplanned pregnancy.

No one expects to need a medical negligence solicitor at such an important moment in their life.
If maternity care has failed you or your family, we’re here to listen and to help you understand your options.
