March is Endometriosis Awareness Month 💛

Endometriosis affects around 10% of women but for far too many women, the journey to a diagnosis is long, frustrating and often dismissed.
It often takes between 7-12 years to be properly diagnosed with endometriosis, during which time symptoms are frequently misdiagnosed as “normal period pain” or overlooked entirely.

Delayed diagnosis can have a serious impact on physical health, fertility, mental wellbeing and quality of life.
Swipe to see when delays might be negligent.

At our firm, we’ve seen how missed opportunities and misdiagnoses can change lives. One of our past clients waited 15 years for a diagnosis. Owing to the delay, she needed a hysterectomy and colon resection which affected her ability to work. We were able to recover £500,000 in compensation for the delayed diagnosis.

If you or someone you know has struggled to get the right diagnosis and this has had an impact on your health, get in touch with our friendly team of legal experts to discuss your case.

This month, our team have been wearing pink for Paces Sheffield as part of Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month.
Paces support children and adults living with neurological conditions such as CP, stroke, MS, Parkinson’s and brain injury.
They're aiming to raise £7,500 before the end of the month to go towards life-changing tech for their children and adults.

We're fundraising on their behalf and would really appreciate any donations. If you are able to, you can support our Paces fundraiser here https://www.justgiving.com/page/medical-solicitors-ltd-1

A great couple of days in Leeds for our solicitors Christine, Lyndsey and Miriam at the Action against Medical Accidents - AVMA clinical negligence conference.
Some insightful and interesting talks about areas such as neurology, cauda equina, brain and spinal cord tumours, and lost years damages.
Also a great opportunity to network and catch up with peers from across the industry.

Lynsey from our Hull office had a lovely surprise to end the week - a beautiful bouquet from a client following the successful settlement of their delayed glaucoma diagnosis claim.

While gifts are never expected, gestures like this certainly put a smile on our faces and remind us why we work in medical negligence law.

Cases like these where the consequences of the delay could have been avoided are often complex and emotionally challenging, so it’s always rewarding to know we’ve helped clients feel heard, supported and guided every step of the way.

It’s World Oral Health Day 🦷

We all know the importance of brushing and check-ups - you've probably just given those pearly whites their first clean of the day.

But what about the quality of dental care we receive?
Have you ever felt unsure about a dental diagnosis or treatment?
Does your dentist keep you informed about your oral health?

Substandard dental care can result in avoidable pain, corrective treatment and lasting damage.
Common examples of dental negligence include:
🦷Failure to identify or treat gum disease
🦷Misdiagnosed infections
🦷Poorly performed procedures such as dental implants

If you believe your dental treatment has fallen below acceptable standards, seeking legal advice can help you understand your options.

Contact our clinical negligence team on 0114 250 7100 for confidential, expert support.

As part of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, we’re highlighting the impact delayed diagnosis can have.

We supported a client whose abnormal PSA test result was not acted on by his GP. The PSA was 7.9, more than double the normal result for a man of his age - he was 45 at the time.

Because the result wasn’t properly followed up, his prostate cancer diagnosis was delayed by around 2.5 years.

By the time the cancer was finally identified, it had spread to his spine and was sadly terminal.

His solicitor, Miriam Bi, was able to secure a £100,000 settlement to recognise the avoidable delay in diagnosis and the profound impact it had on our client and his family.

While compensation cannot change what has happened, it can help provide financial security and support during an incredibly difficult time.

If you or someone you love has experienced a delayed diagnosis, specialist legal advice may help you understand your options.

Our Sheffield office has been in for a treat today thanks to our neighbours over at Resolve It Solutions.
We’ve had a delivery of some delicious cakes, cookies and brownies today from their charity bake sale in aid of St Luke's - Sheffield's Hospice. A special thank you for the gluten-free options made just for us - a very thoughtful touch!

March marks Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, a time to highlight the importance of early diagnosis and proper medical care.

🔹Failure to investigate symptoms
🔹Misinterpretation of PSA test results
🔹Patients not informed of abnormal results
🔹Delays in referrals, testing or follow-up

When prostate cancer isn’t diagnosed or treated in time, the consequences can be life-changing.

We’re pleased to announce a new collaboration with RISE Physiotherapy, a state-of-the-art physiotherapy clinic in Beverley.

This collab has been spearheaded by Abbie Cadwallender from our Hull team. She met with their clinical director, Phil, last week to see how we can work together to ensure our clients affected by medical negligence have access to high-quality assessments, treatment and rehabilitation when they need it most.

RISE's services span women’s health, musculoskeletal physiotherapy and neuro-rehabilitation, alongside advanced treatments such as injection therapy and shockwave therapy. They are also looking to expand their offering to include dietetic services, recognising the growing need for better nutritional support.

By combining expert legal representation with access to high-quality clinical care, we aim to support our clients not only through their claims, but throughout their recovery journey as they rebuild their lives.

As today is Young Carers Action Day, we're sharing the story of our lovely administrator, Jess, who is running the Sheffield Half Marathon in aid of Sheffield Young Carers.

With experience of being a young carer, Jess wants to give back to a charity close to her heart to show other young carers they are not alone.

A running newbie who only started running when our team did the Sands 5K in September, Jess is challenging herself to take on her first half marathon at South Yorkshire's biggest event of its kind.

She's been squeezing training in between work and being a busy mum to her three-year-old daughter.

We're hoping our followers will help her reach her fundraising target of £450. If you are able to, you can donate here https://www.gofundme.com/f/for-the-young-people-who-care-beyond-their-years

Has your solicitor asked you to sign a document such as witness statement or schedule of financial losses?
It will usually have a Statement of Truth attached to it.
For , we look at what you need to know before you sign on the dotted line to avoid ending up in contempt of court.
Before you sign, make a note of our top 3 tips:
1️⃣ Be completely honest, accurate and truthful with your solicitor.
2️⃣ Always speak to your solicitor if you have problems proving any issues.
3️⃣ you can't remember something, it's best just to say that rather than guessing or speculating.

It’s recently been announced that the NHS Humber Health Partnership, which has hospitals in Hull, Cottingham, Goole, Scunthorpe, and Grimsby, is going into special measures.

It will now fall into Segment 5 of the National Oversight Framework, the lowest category on a government league table reserved for those providers facing the most significant performance or governance challenges.

The group is one of the largest in the NHS and is up of two Trusts – Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust.

Hull University Teaching Hospitals is ranked at 130 out of 134 trusts. The Trust has been hit by a series of concerning decisions made by the interim team and these have been in the best interests of patients.

The body which runs hospitals in East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire is being placed in special measures.
