My Chaperone career began in 2002, when one of my first jobs was on the set of BBC radio in Manchester, where I was chaperone to a young girl who was part of an adaptation of a book for radio by children's laureate Anne Fine. Since then, I have had various jobs, one of the most memorable was chaperone to the children on Grange Hill, when the series made a come back in 2002. I also did a spell on 'Born and Bred', as well as many other amateur children's productions, some of which my own daughter was part of. I took a break from chaperoning when my father died and my mothers health deteriorated, but I am now chaperoning once more, alongside working as a film and TV supporting artiste, which I have been doing since 1995.

AMAZON ADVENTURE - One of the days filming took place at Quarry Bank Mill in Cheshire. A working mill and National Trust heritage site, showing how a complete industrial community lived. The children and I, had a very enjoyable and interesting day filming in the old mill, and as the film is set in 1850's, the children were suitably dressed for the day in some fab costumes. Unfortunately,I cannot put any photos on here until the film has been released April 2017.

We filmed Houdini and Doyle on a Moravian settlement at Fairfield in Manchester. It was like a step back in time with its cobbled streets and Victorian street lights. I was chaperone to three children, Bradley, Louise and Francesca who were lucky enough to have their own Winnebago to relax in!

I was Chaperone to three children, two girls and one boy, filming in Manchester earlier this year. Until the production is aired in the spring, I am prevented from releasing any details or photographs, but look forward to updating this post when the series goes out on ITV encore in 2016!

My longest assignment as a chaperone was when I was one of three chaperones caring for the children on the set of Grange Hill, when it made a come back in the years 2003 - 2008. I was part of the regular team responsible for the welfare of the main cast children, namely Chris Crookall who played Andy Turner, Lucas Lindo who played Abel Benson, Chris Perry-Metcalf who played 'Togger' Johnson, Kirsten Cassidy who played Tanya Young and Lauren Bunney who played Annie Wainwright. They were truely a great bunch of kids - they made the regular long drives to Liverpool (The series was made at Mersey TV, (now Lime) in Liverpool) more than worth while. A bunch of varied personalities, - Chris Crookall SO quiet, polite and well mannered, Lucas Lindo, a bit of a cheeky monkey with boundless energy but kept us laughing all day, but all of them very professional. Chris Perry-Metcalf who played 'Togger' was the nephew of Tucker Jenkins played by Todd Carty. Another very enjoyable assignment.

One of my favourite jobs was for the BBC in Manchester. They were adapting a book for radio by the Childrens laureate, Anne Fine. The book was called 'Step by wicked step' and it was my job to look after a young girl for the day, who was reading the part of one of the children in the book. Unlike some experiences I encounter as a supporting artiste,I had a very pampered day in the green room, with bowls of fruit and tea and biscuits! The young girl I was looking after, was very polite and lovely and was an absolute pleasure to look after. After the recording was finished, Anne Fine came to introduce herself to me (lovely lady). She was interested to hear that my daughter was a keen reader and she presented me with a signed copy of her book as a gift to take home to my daughter, a book my daughter still has to this day. Very enjoyable assignment!

It is always nice to work on a programme which you enjoy watching! I worked both as a supporting artiste and as a chaperone, several times on Dalziel and Pascoe.I remember a lovely day chaperoning in the sun, during the making of the episode 'dialogues of the dead', which featured Dervla Kirwan. It was an outdoor carnival scene and I was caring for a young girl who was lovely. Very enjoyable day!

Proving amateur dramatics are every bit as important as the big guys, here are some images from local drama group, Steel Valley Beacon Arts, during their performance of 'Here Be Dragons': Stocksbridge The Musical. An original musical written by the local community which depicts the history of Stocksbridge, focusing on the life of Samuel Fox, the steelworks and the legacy he left behind.

I worked briefly on 'Born and Bred', the BBC series set in the 1950's which starred (among others) James Bolam and Michael French. I was Chaperone to some of the cast children during the filming of a wedding and reception scene.
