Tinnitus a common problem within the ears, but not truly known what causes the ringing/buzzing in the ear.
Tinnitus is commonly described for many people, and is a sound that cannot be heard by others but no external source creating the sound.
Wax build can add to symptoms, so if you experience anything like this, why not book to get yourself checked.

*Outcome*

The before photo shows why Olive oil is so important to use before having any irrigation or micro-suction. This procedure was done with micro-suction and the outcome was great.
Olive oil allows the wax to soften and create a easier and great chance of removal.

*Did you Know*

Sound is measured in decibels and has a big impact on our long term hearing.
Do you know what your exposed to in everyday life? You might be surprised to see how even the unnoticeable noises have an impact.
Swipe to see the different noise levels.
Any noise over 70 decibels should not be expose for more than 10 minutes, otherwise this can cause permanent damage to hearing.

Anything over 70 decibels can cause ringing in the ears, so if you experience this, it might be due to excessive noise exposure.

*3 stages of hearing*

The ear anatomy is made up of 3 areas, the outer, the middle and inner. What can be confusing, is that the outer part of the ear, is the canal, the middle is the ear drum and the inner is behind the ear drum.
All areas are incredibly important to hearing and processing the information the brain needs.
The outer ear channels the sound (like a funnel) into the middle ear.
The middle ear (tympanic membrane) enhances the vibrations and boosting the vibrations.
The inner ear, is where the cochlear detects sounds from the tiny hairs on it, which deciphers from high and low pitched tones. This sends impulses to the brain to recognise the sound.

*Did you know*

The skin in the ear canal will renew and regenerate over a year, allowing old skin to fall away and migrate out of the canal. Meaning every year, you have completely new skin in your ear canal, ensuring self cleaning.
This can also lead to wax build up if it doesn't fully come out of the ear causing complications.
Ear wax on the entrance of the canal, is completely normal.

*Outcome*

This client had micro-suction because of a history of ear problems. The client was found to have bilateral ear infections. This is just one ear.
The difference between micro-suction and irrigation is imperative and knowing this client had a history of ear infections and 'Ear, Nose and Throat' specialty input meant micro-suction was the right procedure.
If irrigation was used, it would have been a high chance of perforating the ear drum, and with the infection seen in the bottom right, would have been significant risk to the client.
Even though some wax will remain present, the main focus is clearing the ear canal for effective hearing and then identifying further outcomes.
The client was advised to see the GP and manage the ear infections.

Your ears never sleep and are always listening. The brain continues to hear soundwaves even when you are fast asleep. For those who may be light sleepers, your brain may be picking up on every little sound.

*Outcome*

Another great outcome from this client. A history of having irrigation and now having similar symptoms of fullness, and distorted hearing, we found a large waxy build up.
Preparation is always key and even if that wax is struggling to come out, there are ways to ease it out ensuring full comfort and positive outcome.

*Did you know*

The smallest bones in the human body is 2-3 millimeters long and found in the ear.
The Stapes, is one of 3 bones in the ear and has a very big job for such a small bone. The Stapes helps the brain identify the sound waves and should this ever break, there is a likely chance of losing your hearing.
