If you’re buying a bath Bomb advent calendar from a “small business” for £20 I can guarantee you aren’t buying a legal, assessed, insured product. Even as a wholesaler, advents are £20 with a minimum £200 order.
When I first started out in this business I thought it silly that bath bombs have to go through an assessment before being allowed to sell and that was before I knew about the extras such as adding each product and recipe with label to a government portal, keeping a file of EVERY BATCH with EVERY ingredient with batch code and suppliers that go into each BATCH, good manufacturing, proof that your products have not been tested on animals, insurance and so on!!!
So, assessment is there for a reason, yes it’s expensive and sometimes a pain but it’s not for me or my safety it’s for YOU, the ingredients that go into a bath Bomb or any cosmetic product can be dangerous if not used correctly. If I add a gram more fragrance to my batch than my assessment states I’m allowed, I can’t sell it as it wouldn’t be safe and if I did choose to and someone ended up having a reaction, my insurance wouldn’t cover me, I’d likely lose my business and possibly even my home.
There are LOADS of fragrance oils out there that can’t be used in cosmetics, some I personally wouldn’t even use in home fragrance due to the allergens and ingredients they contain. Someone who isn’t assessed won’t know this, they won’t know the ins and outs of allergens of safe percentages etc.
I’m not asking anyone to buy from us, I’m asking that you don’t buy these cheap products all over market place for your children or yourself or if you do ask to see proof of CPSR and insurance first. CPSR is a legal document that we can not share with anyone BUT we can share the front page.
