Upcoming Shiatsu taster day with Northern School of Shiatsu - learn some new skills to practise on family and friends!

We have a Shiatsu Taster Day coming up on Saturday the 25th of April and here is an example of what you can learn on this lovely day!
This is a great opportunity to dip your toes into the wonderful world of Shiatsu. It is a practical day and you will have the chance to learn basic Shiatsu skills which you can then practice on friends and family. How would you like to learn to give a facial treatment? Work on the hands? The neck and shoulders? (An area of stiffness and tension for many people), and a lovely treatment to work on the back. We look at the history of Shiatsu and how it can benefit everyone.

As a bonus, if you attend the Taster Day and sign up for our Foundation Course in September you will receive a voucher worth £50 towards the cost of the next Foundation Course.

It includes acupressure points to help with coughs and sore throats and a Makka Ho stretch which supports the Lung meridian.

Would you like to try Qigong this year? Come and try some gentle mindful movement at Saint Leonards on Thursday 8 January.

Tai chi Qigong (also called Shibashi) is a gentle and energising Qigong set, made up of 18 movements.

When: Thursday mornings at 10am-11am in term-time, from 8 January 2026.

Shiatsu Foundation course starts with Northern School of Shiatsu on 10th January!

Are you starting to think about a new challenge, or direction for 2026? Have you ever considered learning Shiatsu?

The three-weekend Shiatsu Foundation course follows on into the stand-alone one year Holistic Acupressure Certificate. This will give you the opportunity to learn the Shiatsu meridians and points, basic anatomy, and dive into the wonders of Chinese Medicine and the Five Elements. At the end of the course you will have a qualification which enables you to set up in business using the skills you have learned.

Have you ever experienced Shiatsu?

Shiatsu is a gentle form of holistic bodywork that originated in Japan: it literally means ‘finger pressure’ and can be described as like acupuncture without needles. It uses a combination of kneading, pressing, and gentle stretching techniques along meridians or channels of energy in the body, to help restore the body’s natural state of balance and wellbeing.

I am offering Shiatsu/Holistic Acupressure treatments in which you can learn daily tools for self-care: Qigong moves and personalised acupressure points.
