Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is one of only four dedicated children’s hospital trusts in the UK and provides integrated healthcare for children and young people, including community and mental health care as well as acute and specialist services. We see children from 0-16 in most cases and in some cases up to 18. We provide a full range of services for residents of Sheffield and South Yorkshire as well as specialised services for patients from further afield. The Children's Hospital Charity exists to make an extraordinary hospital even better. We keep our specialist services special; providing the best equipment your money can buy, opening new facilities and funding vital research to change lives tomorrow. We make the clinical more comfortable; transforming the hospital space and adding the little touches that make a big difference to families. Together with all our supporters and staff, we do it for the kids.

Oh boy! Look who stopped by to say hello 💫

Families at Sheffield Children’s Hospital had a magical visit from the one and only Mickey Mouse, who skated in all the way from Disney On Ice

Mickey spread festive joy and wonder amongst patients, families and staff members alike, who couldn’t contain their excitement as they watched him dance and play all morning long.

Thanks for stopping by Mickey - you made our festive season even more magical ❤️

Festive football fun at Sheffield Children’s! ⚽

Players from Sheffield United and Sheffield United Women took a break from their busy winter schedule to spread Christmas cheer at Sheffield Children’s Hospital and The Becton Centre for Children and Young People. They paid a visit to many of our families, (including Superfan Archie!) chatting all things Christmas, Fortnite and, of course, football!

The team gave out fabulous gifts, had a kickaround with some of our patients and even got involved in an intense videogame with children and young people on our dedicated neurosciences Ward!

Thank you for visiting us, Blades! We know that you’ve made some new fans following your visit too 🔴⚪

It’s the most wonderful time of the year – oh yes it is! 🎭

Panto stars Evie Pickerill (Spirit of the Ring), Sario Salomon (Aladdin), Lauren Chia (Jasmine) took time out from entertaining the crowds at the Lyceum Theatre to fly over and spread a little festive fun at Sheffield Children’s.

After posing for photos and chatting with lots of children and young people staying at Sheffield Children’s, the cast also introduced a very special screening of Aladdin in our Outpatients Department. Altogether now – oh yes they did!

Thanks to Sheffield Multimedia Services for providing us with the technology enabling us to show the Panto, and to Sheffield Theatres and the cast of the pantomime for being part of such a magical evening!

Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity ambassadors Steve Bracknall, assistant manager of Royal Oak FC and Reverend and the Makers frontman, Jon McClure, visited Sheffield Children's to see first-hand the impact of the charity-funded Art+ programme.

The duo surprised children and their families with a heart-warming appearance, leading a festive ward sing-along as part of a special musical feature delivered by Art+ — the arts team dedicated to creatively transforming the hospital environment and supporting the very best care for children across Yorkshire, the UK, and beyond. 🎶✨

Jon's youngest child received life-saving treatment, and his brother Chris McClure (aka Steve Bracknall)’s daughter has also received care at Sheffield Children’s. This made the visit especially meaningful, as they were able to see first-hand the joy these experiences bring to patients.

We'd like to say a huge thank you to our media partner, LensGo Visual Media, for coming along to capture this special visit!

🔵⚪Sheffield Wednesday spread festive cheer at Sheffield Children’s 🔵⚪

It was an early blue and white Christmas as we welcomed Sheffield Wednesday to Sheffield Children’s.

Captain and Ambassador for Sheffield Children's Hospital Charity Barry Bannan, Manager Henrik Pedersen, and players Harry Amass, Jamal Lowe and Max Lowe met families staying on the wards, handed out some festive goodies, and chatted about their upcoming matches.

There was a special moment for Freddie who met Barry Bannan for a second time – and they reminisced about when he was a mascot for the club! Meanwhile, little Milo was spellbound by a new festive teddy.

A big thank you to everyone from Sheffield Wednesday for joining us and helping to create magical memories for children and young people.

A major UK-wide clinical trial led from Sheffield has launched to improve how we treat a common leg injury in young children - known as a toddler’s fracture.

Toddler’s fractures are small breaks in the shin bone (tibia), usually caused by a minor fall or twist. While they heal well, treatments vary widely across hospitals - from casts and walking boots to simple bandages or even no immobilisation at all.

The ToTs Study (Treatment of Toddler’s Fractures), sponsored by Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust and supported by the Clinical Trials Research Unit at the University of Sheffield, will recruit 494 children aged nine months to three years across the UK.

Researchers, funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), will compare pain, recovery, family satisfaction, mobility, and cost between those who are given immobilisation and those who are not. This aims to create the first evidence-based standard of care for these injuries.

Parent Fay, whose son Stanley (pictured) was treated with a cast at age two, shared how difficult their experience was. She hopes the study will show whether casts are necessary, making a huge difference for families.

With 19 hospitals already involved (and up to 25 expected), the study has already recruited its first 30 participants.

MRI scans can feel scary for children and their families.

A £20 gift can provide an MRI ‘roadmap’ - helping families understand the process and feel calmer and more prepared.
