Tremendous 🤌🏼 34kg down. He’s not finished. But he’s well on his way.

A life defining moment.

This young lad will forever be thankful and proud, that in his early 20’s, he decided to turn his life around.

He’s grown up in a world where food can be delivered quicker than you can make it.

Where there’s more dopamine on a screen than in real life.

Navigating all this took it’s toll.

But TH is proving it’s never too late to change the trajectory of your life.

Really cool to be a part of this one.

Outstanding young man 🫡🫱🏼‍🫲🏽

Good week on the tools, but something has captured my mind this week.

Endurance training is great, because you get a lot of time to think.

About everything.

It’s becoming almost a form of therapy tbh.

But there’s something I’ve thought about a lot this week.

The relationship between obsession and depression.

I don’t think enough people have a thing they obsess over.

They have things they like.

Things that they don’t mind doing.

But obsession is different. It’s exciting. It’s all consuming. It’s purpose. It’s a drive from within to be better, do better at this thing you can’t get out of your head.

Even if only for a brief moment in the grand scheme of things.

When you’re in the thick of an obsession, It also shines a massive spotlight on those in your life who aren’t.

And it pulls you a little closer to those who truly are.

We’re told obsession is a bad thing. Something to avoid and be wary off.

“You don’t wanna get too obsessed, I know someone who took that too far and look at them now”

I’ve been hearing this same line since I was 12 years old and I picked up my first DB (and subsequently never put it down).

Obsession doesn’t cure depression.

But it’s a f**cking great antidote.

30 pints a week boozer to half marathon cruiser 🏃🏻‍♂️

That shot from behind is my favourite 🌲

17kg and almost 20% body fat down in 20 weeks.

This lads work rate really inspired me.

In a recent session, he made a nice comment about how the program at R5 has totally changed him and his mindset.

I confirmed we don’t change people, we bring out what was already there.

Everyone has that mindset, but it needs training like every other muscle.

We all have a drastic change like this in us (I’ve brought people back from much worse spots).

It just takes the right person, at the right time, to reset that cycle we all get caught in.

Awesome work AD 👏🏼

Time to lift heavier, run quicker, keep rewriting the script.

Quick update on my own training 💪🏼

I picked up my Ribble bike this past weekend. Triathlon training slowly ramping up.

Swimming and running have been a weekly fixture for some time now. The cycling I haven’t pushed as much, maybe too over confident in my cycling abilities 😅

I got a steady 30km’s in yesterday and Christ, that seat is as uncomfortable as it looks! Thank god for padded bib shorts.

Great to finally have my own bike to train on though. This is very much an entry level road bike. In fact it’s known as an ‘All Road’ bike for cycling on gravel occasionally.

It’ll certainly get me round a triathlon course and maybe, dare I say, a half or full iron man.

Endurance training certainly taking up the bulk of my week at the moment. Factoring in approx 40km of running, 2.5km of swimming and 30km of cycling.

Swimming still the one I’m finding really difficult. Small improvements but nowhere near the standard needed for triathlon. Swimming coach looking like the next step.

Weight training has been reduced to measly upper and lower sessions in the week. But I’m not mad about it.

I’ve found maintaining muscle mass relatively easy on this weekly split. Research concludes that for maintaining muscle, 6 sets per muscle, per week, is what’s required, so that’s what I’m aiming for.

So far so good 💪🏼

Pro Doubles MCR ⚔️ Toughest one so far.

Neither of us could hit that top gear. Kicked our ass start to finish tbh.

We had a time in mind but fell well short. It’s a PB on the pros circuit. But we can do a lot better than this.

Re-do in London in March. Work to do.

Tinny and tear up 🔋

Tools feeling sharp.

Rehab going well.

Stringing a few km’s together.

Training content (very) low.

Training output high.

Big test only a month away.

Comes back on.
