Going Skiing?

Worried you might injure yourself?

Start some strength training now to target leg strength and reduce injury risk!

Exercises targeting quadriceps strength (thigh muscles) are particularly useful to improving your skiing technique!

Here are a few examples;

Squats with an added reverse lunge
Walking lunge with upper body rotation
Lateral ski jumps

Avoid strains and sprains this winter!

Falls are more likely during the winter when sporting performance is reduced in cold conditions, and slips and trips are more frequent.

Ligaments and muscles acting on the joints of the knees, shoulders, and wrists are most commonly injured.

Warm up thoroughly before playing and
wear appropriate protective gear as necessary.

As the women’s World Cup continues here’s a few tips on football prehab to avoid injuries for all you budding footballers!

*focus on Hip, Knee and Ankle strength.
*avoid tight hamstrings to avoid unwanted injury.
*chance your pace- you need to have power to improve your speed.
*core strength is key in reactive movements.
*don’t forget to warm up and cool down!

How long should I stretch for?

It’s widely accepted that stretching for 10-30 seconds and repeating that stretch 2-4 times in a session is sufficient for increasing flexibility.

Flexibility sessions should be performed atleast 2-3 times a week for best results!
