How do you choose your trainers?
Here are our top five tips:

1. Think function over fashion
How trainers feel is far more important than how they look.

2. Measure your foot frequently
Our feet grow and change over time, even as adults. Weight gain/loss, pregnancy and lower body injury can all contribute to changes in foot size.

3. Bring your own socks
Try trainers on with the socks you wear during your activity. If you wear orthotics, bring those, too. Shoes should fit with the orthotic inside.

4. Don't believe in breaking in
The shoes should be comfortable as soon as you try them on. There is no
โ€˜break-inโ€™ period. Move around the shop to make sure trainers feel comfortable in action.

5. Fit is everything
There should be 8-10mm between the tip of your toes and the end of the shoe. The heel should fit relatively tightly and should not slip out when you walk or run.

Are you struggling to find the time to exercise or cook healthily? Discover the strength and simplicity of 'swaps'!

Simply make consistently healthier small swaps and they will mount up, such as:
1. Walking every day or taking the stairs instead of a lift.
2. Swapping snacks for healthier options.
3. Parking at the far end of the car park to introduce extra steps into work/shops/the station.

Remember - make small changes for sustainable long-term change. Over time you'll notice results. Give it a go!

Eat fresh to look after yourself.

Eating fresh, natural foods is a wonderful health boost at any time of the year, but is particularly beneficial over Christmas, when there are so many sweet, sugary, man-made temptations available.

Try to ensure that you eat a least one freshly cooked meal a day with at least three portions of vegetables. Eat the rainbow - the brighter and more varied the colours of fruit and veg - yellow, greens, purples and reds - the more loaded they are with antioxidants, great for your immune system, skin, eye and organ function.

You'll feel better for it!
