This morning our hockey team was a little short on players… so we swapped sticks for brainpower instead! 🏒➡️🧠
We had a brilliant time enjoying a cosy quiz in the activity room 📚☕✨
Followed by some relaxing jigsaw sorting and colouring to finish off the morning 🧩🎨💛

A lovely quiz this morning 🤩📚 We started with some general knowledge questions 🧠✨ then moved on to rebus puzzles, which were great fun for everyone to shout out the quickest answers! 😉🎉

🧶💭❤️A great knit and natter session this morning, we watched André Rieu, had some lovely conversations. While some residents taught our staff to knit others enjoyed having a good sort out of our activity room boxes! 🧶💭❤️🥰🎼🎶

Our Christmas bags will be truly unique and filled with a touch of magic ✨🎁. They’ll be even more special this year, as they were lovingly created by our residents ❤️👵👴 together with the busy little hands of the children from Acorn Preschool 🖐️🎨🎄. We can’t wait to share the joy they’ll bring this Christmas 💫✨🎅🤶!

As the Manager of our care home, I want to take this Safeguarding Week as an opportunity to strengthen and reaffirm our commitment to keeping every resident safe, respected, and well supported. Safeguarding is not just a policy, it is a shared promise that guides every decision we make.

My pledge to you, especially during Safeguarding Week, is this:
I will always promote a culture where safety, dignity, and respect come first for every resident, every day.
I will ensure all staff remain confident, informed, and empowered to recognise and report any concerns without hesitation.
I will promote open communication and transparency so that staff and families always feel heard and supported.
I will lead by example, upholding the highest standards of care and challenging any practice that falls short.
I will work closely with families, professionals, and our wider community to ensure that safeguarding remains a shared responsibility, not just a care home obligation.

To support meaningful reflection this week, we have placed “What Safeguarding Means to Me” forms in the foyer at the main entrance. I warmly encourage staff, relatives, and visitors to share your thoughts. Understanding what safeguarding means to you helps us shape a safer, stronger environment for all who live here.

Thank you to our incredible team and to families for your continued trust and collaboration. This week and every week, safeguarding remains at the heart of everything we do.
