Life can feel like a game with rules we never agreed to.
Always performing, competing, carrying debts we can’t shake, or feeling reduced to numbers.

That’s why Squid Games hit such a nerve — it exaggerated what many already sense about modern life.

In therapy, we explore the rules you’re living by, where they came from, and whether they still serve you. Not to win the game, but to find a different way of living.

Are men getting the support they need from counselling?

The latest BACP research highlights something I’ve noticed in my work: many men don’t feel therapy is designed with them in mind. With only 14% of counsellors identifying as men, it’s perhaps not surprising that some see counselling as a space “not for them.”

When men don’t feel represented, it can make it harder to reach out, even when support could really help. Representation matters, but so does the way we talk about and design our services. Small changes can make a real difference in helping men feel understood and welcome.

I’d love to hear your thoughts. What do you think could make therapy feel more accessible and relevant for men?

Job loss can be one of the hardest transitions in life. It affects more than finances — it can unsettle confidence, identity, and relationships. Feelings of worry, shame, or sadness are common, and can take a toll on mental health.

In my latest blog, I share how Gestalt therapy can support people through the emotional impact of job loss and help them find steadier ground.

Losing a job is never easy. For many people, work is more than just a way to earn a living. It gives structure to the day, creates a sense of purpose, and

You only get 4,000 weeks

That’s the average human lifespan.
Oliver Burkeman’s book 4,000 Weeks isn’t about squeezing more into your calendar—it’s about realising you’ll never get it all done. And maybe, that’s the point.

For many high-achievers, that truth hits hard.
You’ve built a successful career, provided for your family, ticked the boxes everyone said would bring fulfilment… yet there’s still a nagging sense of is this it?

Burkeman’s challenge is uncomfortable but freeing:
Stop living as if life will start “when things settle down” or “once the next milestone is reached.”
Start noticing what matters now—before the weeks run out.

If you’re feeling disconnected from yourself, your relationships, or your sense of purpose, it’s not because you’ve failed. It might be because you’ve been playing a game that was never designed to make you feel whole.

The question isn’t “how do I fit more in?”
It’s “what’s truly worth my precious, finite time?”

One day, the rush hour ends. What then?

🧠 You don’t have to be falling apart to come to therapy.
Maybe you’re the one people rely on—the strong one, the fixer, the one who just gets on with it.

But lately, something feels off.

You’re not sleeping well. You’re snapping at people you care about. You can’t switch off.
You’ve worked hard to build a successful life—but emotionally, it feels like you’re running on empty.

Most of my clients are high-performing professionals who’ve hit a wall:
✔️ Stressed, overwhelmed, or burned out
✔️ Emotionally flat or disconnected
✔️ Struggling in relationships
✔️ Carrying guilt, shame, or pressure to always ‘hold it together’
✔️ Not sure how to talk about what’s really going on

I offer a calm, confidential space to make sense of things—and begin to reconnect with yourself and others.

Whether you're a city professional, business owner, or just someone who’s used to coping alone, therapy can help you stop surviving and start feeling again.

The ancient Japanese art of Kintsugi is an antidote to perfectionism, teaching us to embrace our imperfections and celebrate failure as this is what makes us human. If we learn to love who we are, rather than trying to be a different version of ourselves, then we become what we were always meant to be.

In the last 3 months around 110,000 people were made redundant within the UK. The shock of losing your job combined with concerns about future financial implications can trigger and . It is natural to grieve the loss of our job status, colleagues, purpose and routine.
Talking about your fears, worries and potential shame with family and friends often feels too uncomfortable particularly if you are a man. Talking to a trained professional who will help you to make sense of your situation and provide a safe space to process your emotions can feel like a huge weight has been lifted from your shoulders.
To find a professionally trained therapist I reccommend using the directories of the larger counselling membership bodies as this will ensure you are approaching a qualified person. The chemistry between therapist and client is the most important factor in determining a successful outcome so be prepared to speak to several prospective counsellors before you find the right one for you.

“The connection between physical and mental health works both ways. Physical illness not only leads to certain mood disorders–the opposite can also occur. While a depressed mood is thought to contribute to the development and progression of some medical illnesses, physical illness can trigger or increase the risk of depression.”

Improving men's mental health gives a boost to physical health as well - and vice versa. Exercise to take care of your whole self.
