🩺 Training saves lives.

Our CareAngels regularly refresh their skills through practical training, ensuring they’re confident and prepared for any situation, whether it’s offering a reassuring hand, supporting a client through a difficult moment, or stepping in during a medical emergency.

Every skill we practise is another way we can protect, support, and uplift the people we care for.

💜 Supporting a loved one with dementia can feel overwhelming at times, but small, thoughtful adjustments can make daily life more comfortable and less stressful.

📅 Use calendars and reminder notes
Clear visual reminders help maintain a sense of routine and independence. A wall calendar, whiteboard, or sticky notes in key areas can make all the difference.

🧹 Declutter and reduce noise
A calm, organised space reduces confusion and anxiety. Removing excess items and lowering background noise can create a more peaceful environment.

📦 Keep essentials in the same place
Consistency is key. Whether it’s glasses, medication, or favourite snacks, keeping them in the same spot makes them easier to find and helps avoid frustration.

🪞 Break tasks into simple steps
Breaking activities down into smaller, manageable parts makes them easier to follow and less overwhelming, helping your loved one stay engaged and confident.

Every act of care, no matter how small, helps preserve comfort, dignity, and connection. We’re here to walk this journey alongside you.

Discrimination against people living with dementia or Alzheimer’s can lead to serious consequences, including delayed diagnosis, reduced access to support, and worsening symptoms.

Stigma often stops individuals and families from seeking help early, even though timely intervention can slow progression and improve quality of life.

Globally, most people living with dementia do not receive post-diagnostic support, despite evidence that tailored care can help maintain independence. In many cases, families take on the majority of the care themselves, providing the equivalent of millions of full-time hours every year, often without adequate resources or respite.

This Alzheimer’s Month, we are working to break down these barriers by promoting understanding, dignity, and inclusive care. Learn how our specialist team in Spelthorne, Elmbridge & Runnymede can help:

Alzheimer’s often begins with subtle changes, and knowing what to look for can help with early diagnosis and support:

1. Repeating questions – Asking the same thing over and over, even minutes later (common in early memory impairment).
2. Forgetting recent events – Struggling to remember recent conversations, appointments or news.
3. Difficulty with familiar tasks – Simple routines like making tea or managing bills feel harder.
4. Getting lost in familiar places – Even known routes or buildings may become confusing.
5. Trouble following conversations – Difficulty keeping up in group talks or finding the right words.
6. Social withdrawal or mood changes – Avoiding friends, activities, or feeling unusually sad or anxious.

Recognising the signs early can make a significant difference. It opens the door to better support options including personalised care plans, cognitive therapies and meaningful interventions that may help slow progression and improve daily life.

Every journey with dementia, including Alzheimer’s, is unique. As needs change, so does the care we provide. Our trained CareAngels adapt to every stage, from offering a friendly face and daily check-ins in the early stages to providing more hands-on support with meals, medication, personal care, and companionship as the condition progresses.

We are here to make each day safer, more comfortable, and filled with moments of connection, while giving families peace of mind.

💜 This Alzheimer’s Month, we want to highlight how the right care, tailored to each person, can bring comfort, dignity, and support at every stage.

Three out of four people living with dementia worldwide have no formal diagnosis.

This means millions are living without the support, treatment, or understanding they deserve.

Without a diagnosis, symptoms can be misattributed to ageing, stress, or other health conditions. This can delay important interventions like memory therapies, lifestyle changes that may slow progression, and specialist care that makes daily life easier and safer.

A diagnosis also helps families plan ahead, access financial and legal guidance, and tap into community resources such as support groups, respite care, and tailored home care services. The earlier dementia is identified, the sooner a care plan can be put in place that maintains independence, dignity, and quality of life for as long as possible.

At Guardian Angel Carers Spelthorne, we provide specialist dementia care designed to meet changing needs, from the earliest signs through to more advanced stages. Our CareAngels are trained to offer both practical assistance and compassionate companionship, supporting not just the person living with dementia but their family too.
