Somerset Slings

A bit emotional, but for now it's time to say goodbye to Somerset Slings.

I set this up during Covid as a way of getting people out and about and socializing with fellow parents/carers with their little ones. It was a huge success and looking back at the photos makes me remember what awesome times, and wonderful adventures, we had.

I've loved every part of this project but the walks were the best part for me!

Little did I know what the impact of having another little one would have on the time I had available to continue organising the walks. I did manage to continue with the sling library which, often due to low numbers, proved hard to sustain. I really enjoyed travelling around Somerset doing one to one consultations and I'm so grateful to those that invited me to assist you with carrying your little ones. Thank you.

However I've reached a point where I have to focus on my family, my main job and myself and there's only so many balls I can juggle (3 to be precise!! Literally and figuratively it seems).

So thank you to everyone who has supported me in my venture and if you need babywearing support i can highly recommend the ladies in Bristol 🙂

Unfortunately Somerset Slings sling meets are to be no more.
After a change of location and then the new location no longer being available I've made the decision to not look for another new location.
The sling meets were such a useful drop in resource, so it will be a shame and I'm sorry not to be able to continue with them.
The sling library will still be available as will the 1:1 in-person or online consultations and the group consultations so do still call on me for any of your carrying needs or to ask any questions.

Just a little post to say 👋. I'm still here!! Just up to my eyeballs in school runs, washing and housework most of the time!

I'm Rachel, I'm a qualified babywearing consultant and I offer help and advice to parents and carers around babywearing, carriers and slings (whichever terminology you prefer!!)

I have a sling library that offers hires of all sorts of babywearing paraphernalia from £5 a month. I also currently run a sling meet in shepton mallet on the first Wednesday of every month. I can also offer 1:1 and group consultations in person or online. So whatever your babywearing needs, just drop me a message :)

CANCELLED: Sling meet cancelled tomorrow. There will also NOT be a meet in January. I will be restarting the sling meets the first week of February.
These sessions will no longer have the doula support aspect and will just be for sling library browsing/hire and fit checks.
If you require some help with your sling/carrier/wrap I am available for in person (in your home or mine) or zoom fit checks and consultations just drop me a message 😊

🍃 AUGUST BABY CARRIER CLINIC and DOULA SUPPORT DROP IN 🍃

Some exciting developments for this months meet! are being joined by the lovely Clair from Malama Mama UK and Kizzy from Babywearing South West to provide you with a fantastic array of parent/carer support services under the one wonderful roof of Harmony Within .

💚 Do you need help with your baby carrier or want to know what carrying options are out there?

💚 Are you pregnant or perhaps a new parent and want to discuss some pre or post natal topics with a very knowledgeable and approachable local doula?

💚 Do you have some breast,chest or bottle feeding questions that you would like to ask?

Not one, but two qualified and experienced baby wearing consultants will be available for 1:1 help, or just come along to browse and try out the carriers available in the sling library.

Come along for this free to attend drop in session for a cuppa, biscuit and a friendly chat. "Pay what you can" donation pot for any support provided which goes toward payment for facilities and refreshments.

Baby carrier hire available for just £10 per month.

I've made the hard decision to put a permanent hold on organising sling walks😔. I just can't provide a consistency with them in between school runs and running the sling library along side other family and work commitments.
Therefore I am turning my focus toward Somerset Slings Sling Library and consultancy services.
Here is a list of the carrying consultancy services I offer.
These services are available on Tuesdays and Wednesdays only and can take place in my home or yours (depending on your location). Online sessions via Zoom also available.
The library will be available at any time and run from my home with doorstep pick up and drop off.
