Hypertension affects 1 in 4 UK adults and drives half of all heart attacks and strokes!
Here is the experience from a patients perspective and how they look after themselves with high blood pressure.
"It has humbled me more than I like to admit. It’s weird managing something serious when most days I don’t feel sick. Some days I’m on top of my meds, my food choices, my stress. Other days I’m exhausted, and honestly a little resentful that this is something I have to think about at all.
I’ve had to unlearn the idea that self-care means doing everything perfectly. For me, it looks like taking my meds even when I feel “fine,” choosing rest instead of pushing through, moving my body gently, and trying again after the days I fall off. It also means giving myself grace instead of shame—because this journey is hard, and pretending it isn’t doesn’t help.
I’m still learning. Still adjusting. Still figuring out how to take care of myself without burning out or beating myself up."
If you’re dealing with high blood pressure (or any chronic health issue), what’s been the one small thing that’s actually helped—even a little?
And if you’re comfortable sharing, how do you give yourself grace on the tough days?

Why We Ask You to Discuss One Problem Per Appointment
At Park Medical Practice our goal is to give every patient safe, high‑quality care. One of the ways we do this is by keeping each appointment focused—so we usually ask patients to discuss one main problem per appointment.
Giving proper attention to your concern takes time. Focusing on one issue helps your doctor listen fully, examine you if needed, explain options clearly, arrange tests or treatment safely and write up the consultation in your medical record..
This isn’t a strict rule, and if your clinician feels there’s time to cover something else, they may do so. If your problems might be linked, your GP will explore that during the appointment.
If you feel you need more time—especially for mental health, multiple long‑term conditions, complex medication, or several symptoms—please let us know when booking. We may be able to arrange a longer appointment.
Thank you for helping us keep care safe, focused and fair for everyone.
If you’re unsure what type of appointment you need, just ask—our team is here to help

💬 You know that more movement helps manage diabetes and other conditions but your body makes that feel impossible? Those of us that are not so mobile hear you and understand this frustration!

Our team wanted to highlight that movement doesn’t have to mean standing, walking, or going to the gym. These simple seated exercises can still help improve circulation, boost mood, support blood sugar control, and keep joints moving comfortably. 🌟

You know your own body — so please use these ideas at your own pace and discretion. Even a little gentle activity can make a positive difference.

🚶‍♀️ Why even small steps can make a big difference to your diabetes!
Keeping active is one of the most effective ways to manage your diabetes and improve your overall health. You don’t need the gym — even gentle movement each day can help. 💙

🌟 Why moving more matters:
Helps lower blood glucose levels
Supports a healthy heart
Improves mood and energy
Keeps joints flexible
Helps maintain a healthy weight

✨ Aim for little and often — a short walk, some stretching, a bit of gardening, or even dancing in the kitchen all count!
