Sūkṣma Yoga Shala Somerset I am offering regular, local classes in Somerset & online. Krishnamacharya method, Iyengar influence, Tantra. May we bless and be blessed by all beings!

I study with Yoga, Tantra & Siddha Lineages in India and am an accredited Yoga Therapist and teacher with 1500+ hrs of teacher training. In the beginning I had no intention of teaching Yoga myself, however, Life has its way and here I am. I have spent most of the last 9 years in India and with much dedication to learning and practice, I recovered my health (which was challenged before) and now experience ever evolving levels of vitality, clarity, presence and expansion through the practice of Yoga, Tantra and Ayurveda. I believe that we all have a deep capacity to heal and transform not only ourselves, but the collective. No matter where, who, how you are or how far away ‘Yoga’ as a concept may feel, the potential is immense and with the right guidance and sustained effort, anyone can deepen their capacity for joy, presence and wellness in body, mind and spirit. Now, as a Yoga Therapist and teacher, I primarily work with people individually, online and in person. I share group classes as well and have led many beautiful retreats, including immersions in India. On retreats, and to clients when possible, I also give bodywork combining the healing modalities of Yoga Therapy, Thai Yoga Massage and Ayurvedic Yoga Massage. I am extremely grateful to my teachers, guides, family and friends for all the support I receive.

The next time someone tries to argue with me about whether God exists, I’m going to pull this one out, it’s irrefutable!

‘What God means to you directly depends on your level of consciousness. Indeed, the God you do not believe in does not exist’ - Dr Marc Gafni

I am writing this as I vigil (stay up all night) for the Summer Solstice so please excuse me things get a bit strange.

Dr Marc Gafni (I adore his work so much) released yesterday an article in which he liberates the term ‘F**k’ from ‘narrow f**k of the sexual’ and goes as far as to say ‘God is F**k’. F**k with a capital ‘F’ (not just the sexual small ‘f’ f**k) is ‘the primal desire of Cosmos for contact and connection awakening in us’. F**k is ‘the evolutionary and ecstatic divine impulse for contact, intimacy, and connection pulsing in you, as you, and through you’.

This, I feel. And this, I feel to be divine.

One of Marc’s biggest teachings is about Eros as the experience of radical aliveness and, well, this is exactly what I felt when I read his article. Radically alive and turned on.

Out of context, it might all seem a bit too much (I implore you to read his article 'Bypassing F**k Creates Abuse') but we do cry out ‘Oh, God’ and ‘F**k’ during intense pleasure and merging, do we not? That might be enough to keep you open to the possibility that God is F**k … I personally need no convincing!

He explains that ‘The greatest human desire is to participate in the F**k of Reality. But we are afraid of the feeling of F**k. It makes us feel out of control or vulnerable in a way we would rather deny or repress. But it is only by entering the feeling of F**k, and tracing it back to its original Divine Source, that we begin to live the erotic life.’

The feeling of F**k is the boundary breaking raw and primal urge to merge with life.

I really needed to get in touch with this feeling when I read his article and I felt transformed as I read it. Leading up to the solstice I had slipped back into some toxic behavior on the level of thought and I was stagnant there. I stepped out of my funk into my F**k just in time to actually feel Sun energy.

The essence of the Summer Solstice is ‘One With All’ - where the boundaries between self and other seem to blur, oneness and interconnectedness and a sense of unity with all beings and the natural world becomes more palpable. To follow Marc, the feeling of F**k is strong. We want to merge with other and with existence.

The sun, at its peak during the solstice, serves as a powerful symbol of unity. It shines on all forms equally without discrimination or withholding.

Many many cultures deify the Sun. Because of my affiliation with India, Hinduism and Yoga I will speak to Surya.

The God Surya is the deity associated primarily with the physical sun, the celestial body as the external source of energy and vitality that sustains all living beings.

Surya also represents the inner light of consciousness, the spiritual light within each individual, the source of wisdom and enlightenment.

Some prefer not to relate with deities, but rather the concepts they embody. The concept of Surya encompasses both the external, cosmic sun and the internal light of consciousness.

The sun reminds us that we are connected by the same source of energy and life. This sun energy can be amplified through yogic practices, the most obvious of these being surya trataka, sun gazing, or trataka on a flame, and sun salutations. Of course there are a million and one other practices that intend on revealing oneness!

Because I am really vibing the 'God is F**k' practice, I would circle back around to that and say that the energy of capital 'F' F**k is quite solar. It radiates out from the deepest part of our being with the purpose of merging and becoming something new through that merging. The possibilities of what newness is created from this is infinite.

When I shared my recent thoughts with Prashanti (teacher/mentor/love) he said that 'diversity folding back on itself and thus creating more planes and dimensions of recombinant possibilities is a ripple of love on the surface of the cosmic pond of unifying and dissolving us! Both phenomena, the diversity drive and the folding back, are forms of ‘f**king!’

This quote may have, at the very last hurdle, pushed us into the realm of too much? You tell me!

So, I ask

What are you merging with this Solstice?

Are you feeling your F**k?

Are you feeling the raw and primal urge to merge with life?

How are you expressing it?

Love Uma

I cannot recommend this retreat enough.

How is cleansing Goddess worship?

In Ta**ra, all of creation is the Goddess, from the most majestic mountain to a discarded piece of plastic to the machine that made it and the man that made the machine.

Human supremacy (humans claiming innate superiority over nonhuman forms of life) is an existing worldview and I do not doubt that human tendency. But the worldview of Ta**ra is that essentially we are not separate from nature, we are made of it, it's where we come from and where we return to, we are it.

In Ta**ra when you worship an 'outer' form of the Goddess with a yantra, mantra or a puja (ritual offering), you are recreating that form within you, you are expressing that form in your body, your inner form takes on the 'outer' form of the Goddess.

This is why in Ta**ra there are 'rules' around which foods, colours or habits need to be avoided. It's not about someone creating a punishing regime, it's a way of honouring the specific flavour of divine energy that you are recreating in your body.

Worship often looks like offering something from nature - flowers, fruit, incense - to the Beloved. We offer flowers and food (fruit) to the outer form of the deity - the image of the God/Goddess or the murti/the statue. Similarly, people give each other flowers as a sign of their devotion, or they'll cook for them or buy them dinner! You are expressing your devotion through nature, which is your nature - you offer yourself.

What does it feel like to receive another's devotion? And how does it feel to express your devotion?

If you were to act in total devotion towards your body what would that look like?

This is the key to cleansing and restoring on physical, emotional and spiritual levels during Navratri.

I am available for 1-1 coaching on how to do Navratri :)
