What fun we had with our Christmas wreath-making session. Everyone got involved in their own way, and there was such a warm, festive atmosphere in the room.

Supporting residents to get out and about and feel part of the community is a key focus for staff at St Cecilia and a recent outing saw them on a day trip to Wells Cathedral to feed the famous swans, with a picnic in the grounds of the Bishops Palace, and tea and cakes at the city’s Conservative Club.
There was a real sense of excitement: trips out bring so much joy and anticipation for our residents and helps connect them to the wider community.
The six-mile trip on board First Bus’s 174 Bath to Wells service was a real treat too! 😊

Residents at St Cecilia have been savouring the flavours of the Mediterranean during a lively themed teatime celebrating international cuisine, with a playlist of familiar Italian tunes adding to the atmosphere.

Mealtimes for us are about more than just eating - they're about enjoyment, engagement, and social time together. And for those who prefer simpler fare, their familiar favourites are always available too.

Our Friday Market is definitely as much a social occasion as an opportunity to make purchases, and some of our residents from St Cecilia have been making the most of that!

We had a lovely sunny morning for our visit and our ladies and gents enjoyed chatting with the stall-holders as well as examining the cakes and fruit for sale and deciding what they wanted to buy.

How our residents enjoyed their end-of-term visit from pupils of Shepton Mallet’s St Pauls CofE VC Junior School! They treated us to a really spectacular show of singing and dancing, which went down a storm!

We were all so impressed by their performance, and we look forward to welcoming them back again when the new academic year begins.

Huge thanks to Pete, whose wife Pat lives with us at St Cecilia, for your sterling efforts in our garden. It's so nice for our residents to look out on, and we're looking forward to being able to sitting outside and enjoying the sunshine. We really appreciate your green fingers!

It’s wonderful to get five-star feedback on our respite care like these comments from LW:

“My father who has Alzheimer's has been using this facility for 2 years now. He has weekly day respite and occasional overnight respite care. The manager and her team are wonderful with Dad. He always comes away happy. They tell me how his day has been and his activities. The team are so good with Dad.

“There are places closer to me but here Dad enjoys his once-weekly day care and his occasional overnight stays. Thank you to everyone at St Cecilia.”

The fact that you are prepared to travel a bit further with him to ensure your Dad spends his time away somewhere he’s really happy speaks volumes!
