Know Your Numbers! week 2025 takes place from 8 - 14 September

Why get your blood pressure checked?

1 in 2 strokes and heart attacks are the result of high blood pressure.

1 in 3 adults in the UK have high blood pressure.

1 in 2 adults with high blood pressure don’t know they have it or aren’t receiving treatment.

6 million people in the UK alone have high blood pressure and don’t know it.

£2.1 billion – that’s how much high blood pressure costs the NHS every year.

Early intervention could literally be a lifesaver!

We are mid point with our flu invites for our clinics which are on Thursday 16th October & Saturday 18th October.
Don't worry if you have not heard from us yet - we will get to you. If you have had an invite via a text link, it is valid for 7 days so don't delay in booking.

All eligible adults are eligible from October so we are unable to vaccinate you before this time.
If you are eligible for the covid booster, you will be offered this at your flu appointment.

Both vaccines have strict eligibility criteria (which can be viewed on our previous post).

Thank you for your patience whilst we co-ordinate this mass clinic.

Tues 9th! Come along to our 'Healthy Hearts and Minds' fair at The Digby Hall from 3-6pm. Look forward to seeing you!

If you have tummy troubles such as discomfort or diarrhoea for three weeks or more, or seen blood in your p*e – even just once, contact your GP practice.
Persistent tummy troubles, which also includes things like being bloated most days, feeling sick or constipation, can be a sign of a number of cancers, including bowel, ovarian or pancreatic cancer, and blood in p*e – even just once, can be a sign of urological cancers, including bladder or kidney cancer.

You should also contact your GP practice if you notice any other unusual changes
such as a lump in the tummy area, post-menopausal bleeding, abnormal vaginal
bleeding, or unexplained weight loss, as these can also be signs of cancer.

While it’s probably nothing serious, any of these symptoms could be a sign of
something that needs treatment. If it is cancer, finding it early makes it more treatable and can save lives.

If your symptoms continue, change, or get worse, it’s important to go back to your GP practice.

Have a child in school or about to start?

It’s a good time to check they are up to date with their vaccinations. Illnesses like measles and whooping cough can be serious, so to check for any missed vaccines, look in your child’s red book or speak to your GP practice. Get more information and see the full childhood vaccination schedule here:

"The first sign of a stroke might not seem like much. Like - not being able to raise your arm.

But any sign of a stroke is always an emergency. Face or arm or sp*ech, at the first sign, it's time to call 999

Cervical Screening Results – Now Sent via the NHS App

From September 2025, NHS England plans to trial sending results from the NHS Cervical Screening Programme directly to patients via their NHS app.

Patients who receive a negative test result will be notified by an NHS app notification. If the NHS app notification has not been read within 72 hours, a letter will be sent to the registered address.

Any abnormal results will continue to be delivered by letter for now.

Please make sure notifications are turned on on your NHS app, so you don’t miss important messages.

This change will mean faster access to results & reduced reliance on post - saving money on postage.

Our clinical team will also continue to remind patients about this change when they attend for their cervical screening.
