Lakeshore provides high quality residential nursing care as a short term bookable respite stay or long term care. We are an independent nursing home. St.

David’s core strength lies in the excellent nursing care that it delivers to its residents. Qualified nursing staff are on duty 24 hours a day working with a team of friendly care assistants. Our home is visited on a weekly basis by the local GP. A hairdresser, chiropodist and optician also visit regularly. Whether you need a little respite care or have complex nursing requirements we are happy accommodate you and make sure your comfortable during your stay.

New Adjustable Height Bathtub 🛁

Residents are very enthusiastic about the new adjustable height bathtub on the first floor.

Most importantly, the new design reduces the number of transfers - but the most exciting feature might be that residents can use Alexa via voice-command to play their favourite music!

A highlight of the week will be the Philippine's Day on the 8th May. Nature also feature prominently in this week's activities. Residents will have an opportunity to create a nature collage on Monday and garden on Saturday 🍀

In the one to ones, residents will be enjoying the late spring in the gardens at Lakeshore.

April Birthdays 🍰

Happy Birthday to Ed and David who celebrated their birthdays in April. The birthday cakes were baked at decorated at Lakeshore according the residents' wishes - and yes these are their actual cakes 🎉

Young and old gathered in the conservatory to have fun with science 👨‍🔬👩‍🔬

That tray of ingredients allowed people to experiment with molecular displacement, create lava lamps, judge egg buoyancy and see the impact of alkaline and acid liquids. There were looks of surprise as a finger dipped in washing up liquid dispersed the pepper to one side of the tray ⚗

The lave lamp effect was created by adding oil and glitter to a glass of water, The addition of salt caused the mixture to move down and then move up again as the oil and glitter broke free of the salt. What looks like a glass of orange juice is turmeric changing colour; first with the addition a drop of detergent and then back to yellow when lemon juice drops were added 🍋

The past week's arts and crafts session focused on something very practical. Residents made resin coasters. The work was very intricate 🎨

Residents started using the completed coasters straight away. Everyone's design was very distinctive 👩‍🎨👨‍🎨

She visited residents in their rooms. Her tail was wagging vigorously, thanks to all treats that residents gave her 🐾

Stop by and say hi 👋 the focus this week is on the natural world

Today's quiz was about Birds. Then on tomorrow, residents will have the opportunity to make volcanoes.

There will be more science experiments on Thursday afternoon. In between all the science, residents can be 'Active with Beth' and celebrate St. George's Day.

Games afternoon 🎲

There were very competitive looks as residents played baseball followed by ball in the net. These two games were followed by boules and then a session of giant dominoes. In addition to being fun, the games stimulate the use different sets of muscles 🎳

Violinist - Samantha 🎻

Residents were delighted to be serenaded by a beautiful solo violin performance. Samantha's expressive playing filled the room and captured everyone’s attention from the very first note.

As you may hear, some of the residents were familiar with the pieces and sang along 🎶

Everyone enjoys spinning the wheel. On our 'Wheel of Fortune' Afternoon, contestants didn't just win prizes, they could give them, answer questions or miss a turn 🎡

Residents wondered what they would get when plunging their hands into the prize box 🎁
