This time of year can be tough if you're grieving. The world keeps moving, but it feels like your heart's stuck in neutral. I find solace in a simple ritual: heading to a river or stream, collecting flowers, sticks, or leaves, and throwing them into the water.

Before I let them go, I say whatever I'm feeling – it's a way to acknowledge the emotions, to speak to the person I'm missing, or just to express what's inside.

As the water carries them away, it's like I'm releasing those feelings, allowing myself to feel and let go. It's not about letting go of the person; they're still with me, in my heart. It's about moving forward with them, learning to carry their memory with me.

If you're struggling, you're not alone. Reach out to Cruse on: 0808 808 1677 or Samaritans on: 116 123 - they're there to listen. Or check out this video that might help:

The bumblebee reminds us that LIMITATIONS, whether imposed by logic, others, or even ourselves, DON'T DEFINE US or what we’re capable of.

When we trust our instincts, embrace resilience, and focus on action instead of doubt, we can achieve what seems impossible. Growth comes from believing in possibility and taking flight despite critics and doubts.

Believe in yourself! Be you and go do your thing! Rise above negativity and defy expectations.

When we focus on our purpose and take action with confidence, we prove that limitations are often just perceptions, not reality. Believe in your ability to fly, even when others say you can’t.

Rain can benefit us in various ways, including its potential to ease stress and uplift mood. Several factors tied to rain can positively affect mental wellbeing:

1. Negative Ions: Rainfall and walking through puddles increases the concentration of negative ions in the air. Negative ions are linked to improved mood, reduced stress, and increased serotonin levels, which can help alleviate symptoms of depression.

2. Soothing Sound: The rhythmic sound of rain can have a calming effect, reducing anxiety and promoting relaxation or even better sleep. Splashing through puddles can also achieve this with the added benefit of being playful which can ease tension.

3. Connection to Nature: Experiencing rain fosters a sense of connection to the natural world, which research shows can improve emotional wellbeing and reduce feelings of isolation.

4. Fresh Start Feeling: Rain often symbolises renewal, washing away the old and bringing a sense of new beginnings, which can feel emotionally refreshing.

5. Mindfulness Opportunities: Rain invites moments of pause, like catching a drop of rain, noticing reflections and splashes in puddles or smelling the earthy "petrichor" scent after rain, which encourages mindfulness and grounding.

Try going outdoors on a rainy day and see what you notice.

A peaceful forest. Time alone. Just me engaging my senses in nature. This quiets my mind, frees my soul and restores my inner peace. This is what truly makes me happy.

When I decided to go sober in January 2023, emotion regulation felt impossible. I was diagnosed with ADHD but couldn't take the medication. So I turned to nature. And I have never felt so free. So at peace.

Now I make time from nature every single day, observing its beauty and being grateful for the mental wellness it has given me. There's so much beauty in nature all around us. Make time for you, make time for nature.
