Thank you so much to Angela Reid, Diggis Den, for bringing her absolutely gorgeous bunnies and guinea pigs to see our residents this afternoon.

🥰 So many smiles and cuddles 🥰

Animal therapy can help residents when they are feeling anxious. Cuddling a fluffy animal can help them to relax which in turn helps them to feel less upset or agitated 🐰🐹🐭
It also helps the staff because who doesnt find stroking a giant bunny relaxing 😏😃

🎶🎵✨️We've had a Friday musical sing along day ✨️🎵🎶

We started at breakfast time with Dirty Dancing and finished with The Greatest Showman at tea time.

With Grease, Hairspray, Swing time, Royal Wedding and Guys and Dolls in between.

Not everyone loves a musical and not everyone loves my singing 🙄 but it still made for a happy Hillbro Friday 🥰

🥰 All of the staff at Hillbro should be extremely proud of themselves because it is down to their amazing care that this has happened. Any job role in a nursing home is not an easy role but it can be one of the most rewarding job roles 🥰

🎶🎵💃🕺Music's a powerful tool in dementia care – it can spark memories, evoke emotions, and bring comfort to people with dementia, even when other forms of communication are failing.
Familiar songs can take our residents back to happy times, reduce agitation and anxiety, and even improve mood and social interactions.
At Hillbro we literally listen to every type of music and take suggestions from residents. This week's suggestions were Maddy Prior and we exercised to classical music.
Elvis, Abba, Fleetwood Mac, Cher, Rod Stewart, Madonna, Bruno Mars, Billy Fury...... all bring back happy memories, start conversations and get feet or hands tapping. Even from our less mobile residents 💓
Children's songs from way back when. Daisy Daisy, She'll be coming round the mountain, What shall we do with the drunken sailor all have a place in our home and always start a singalong. Even Ibiza Classics will be playing and gets everyone in an energetic mood along with a bit of Northern Soul.

Music in a nursing home is a must. Even the sad songs 🎵 🎶🎤

Juliana plays the accordian with Bradford Accordian Band and today she came into Hillbro especially to play for one of our residents who used to dance to accordian music as a child. It brought back so many happy memories for our lovely lady 💗 🪗🎶🎵

A couple of months a go you might remember some of our residents were involved in a professional photo shoot. Well this is the result 🥰

And on Saturday some of our residents will be going to see this exhibition and see their own pictures on the walls 💕
