Familiar songs can take our residents back to happy times, reduce agitation and anxiety, and even improve mood and social interactions.
At Hillbro we literally listen to every type of music and take suggestions from residents. This week's suggestions were Maddy Prior and we exercised to classical music.
Elvis, Abba, Fleetwood Mac, Cher, Rod Stewart, Madonna, Bruno Mars, Billy Fury...... all bring back happy memories, start conversations and get feet or hands tapping. Even from our less mobile residents π
Children's songs from way back when. Daisy Daisy, She'll be coming round the mountain, What shall we do with the drunken sailor all have a place in our home and always start a singalong. Even Ibiza Classics will be playing and gets everyone in an energetic mood along with a bit of Northern Soul.
