It’s a firm home favourite amongst our residents.

It’s always lovely to see everyone gathered round the table, sharing stories, tactics, and a few cheeky “I told you so’s” when someone wins! 😉🤣

A Very Special Celebration at Richmond ✨

Today we had the absolute joy of celebrating our wonderful Shirley’s 90th birthday!

And of course, we couldn’t let such a huge birthday for such a special lady pass without a good old Richmond birthday bash!🪩💃

The entertainment had everyone up on their feet, and the food and cakes went down a treat! The visitors came by in their numbers to celebrate with us all and Shirley enjoyed a fantastic afternoon surrounded by her wonderful family and friends. (We’re certainly all partied out now🤣)

We hope you will all join us in wishing a huge Happy 90th Birthday to our dearest Shirl 🤍🎉.

Onam Celebrations at Richmond ✨

Today, we had the joy of celebrating and experiencing the vibrant and wonderful festival of Onam here at Richmond. The atmosphere was alive with colour, love and laughter, as we honoured this beautiful tradition from Kerala.

Our celebrations were full of special moments, from making delicate flower hair clips to enjoying a wonderful showcase of culture through singing and dancing, and sharing the delicious food. Our staff, residents and family members also joined in with the singing and dancing, had so much fun learning the dances, and even dressing in the most incredibly beautiful traditional clothing!🤩

It was truly wonderful to see different cultures coming together, learning from one another, and sharing in each other’s traditions. Moments like these remind us how much love, joy, understanding, and connection can be created when communities embrace and celebrate diversity!

Onam was a beautiful opportunity to experience this spirit of unity and togetherness firsthand. Thank you to everyone who made this such a memorable occasion🫶.

What a weekend! ✨🌞

Our Summer Fair has been marked on the calendar for months and what a day it turned out to be!

We had the BEST time celebrating with friends, families and our wonderful community. From singing and dancing to games, raffles, tombola, and even glitter tattoos, there was laughter and joy everywhere you looked.

We would like to say a few special thank you’s!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along and made the day so special. Your support means the world to us!

Another massive shoutout to our amazing staff for their hard work, and of course, a big applause to our superstar Tash for pulling it all together so perfectly (again!). 👏

We are so grateful for every raffle prize, tombola donation, and smiling face! You all helped make the day one to remember.

We’re already talking about next year!🤹🎪

Flower Power at Richmond 🌸

Last week our lovely ladies spent some time flower arranging, and the results were just beautiful! Their colourful creations are now dotted around the home, bringing brightness and cheer to every corner.

Did you know flower arranging isn’t just fun, it’s also fantastic for wellbeing? For older people, it can help improve dexterity, keep the mind active through creativity, and even boost mood by reducing stress and promoting relaxation. Plus, working with flowers is a wonderful way to spark conversation and reminisce, making it both calming and social ✨🌼

We loved seeing all the smiles as the arrangements came together, proof that sometimes the simplest activities bring the most joy!

National Dog Day at Richmond! 🐶

Yesterday we celebrated National Dog Day in true Richmond style! We kicked things off with a super fun game of Dog Bingo!

Then came the biggest surprise of the day…

Milo came to visit! He was greeted with very open arms and lots of snuggles, of course! 🫶

Did you know?

🐶 Spending time with dogs is proven to lower stress, reduce feelings of loneliness, and even boost mood.

🐶 Pet therapy can help improve memory recall and spark conversations, perfect for sharing happy memories of much loved pets.

🐶 And best of all, just 15 minutes of cuddles with a dog can release “feel good” hormones like oxytocin and serotonin.

What a perfect way to celebrate our four legged friends and all the joy they bring! 🐾💛

How did you spend your bank holiday?☀️

We enjoyed a lovely afternoon soaking up the sunshine in the garden, with family visits and of course plenty of ice lollies to keep us cool! 🍦

Did you know a daily dose of sunshine gives us a boost of vitamin D, which is especially important for older adults as it helps keep bones strong, muscles healthy, and even supports our immune system✨

📸 This week at Richmond we joined in with Take a Photo Day!

Our residents had such a lovely time capturing snapshots of things close to their hearts. Some chose beautiful flowers, others picked their beloved dogs or treasured loved ones. One resident even shared that she used to enjoy taking pictures of scenic views! So, of course, we improvised!🌄

It was a wonderful way to spark memories, conversations, and plenty of smiles.

Moments like this are a reminder that every picture tells a story 🤍
