The new GP contract was published in early 2019 as part of the NHS Long Term Plan. A key element of the new contract is the development of Primary Care Networks (PCNs) which bring GP practices together with other local services - such as community, mental health, social care and the voluntary sector - to look after local populations. PCNs help to join up services at a local level, focusing on the specific needs of these local populations, with patients still accessing routine GP appointments as they do now.

7 of the GP practices within our area have joined together to form the North Hardwick & Bolsover PCN. They are:

>Castle Street Medical Centre
>Crags Health Care
>Creswell & Langwith Medical Centre
>Emmett Carr Surgery
>Friendly Family Surgery
>Shires Healthcare
>Welbeck Road Health Centre

Our surgery teams are working closely with each other, enjoying the ability to share expertise and resources, to develop new services. Our vision is to continue to improve the quality of care that we provide in alignment with the needs of our patient population. Because we are part of a PCN we are able to take advantage of additional staff roles that are now available to support all of our patients. These additional roles help us to provide the right care at the right time, from the right professional.

We’re disappointed to report that our surgery has been vandalised.

We’re proud to serve our community and know that most people value and respect the surgery. Please help us keep it safe by reporting any suspicious behaviour, and by looking out for one another.

We’re saddened to share that several of the newly planted shrubs outside the surgery have been stolen. This is incredibly disappointing, especially after the effort and care that went into improving the space for everyone 😔

An amber heat health alert will be in place from Midday today until 6.00pm on Tuesday 1 July - it's going to get very warm again so let's make sure to enjoy it sensibly. ☀☀☀. Beating the heat is common sense: Before hot weather arrives, think about what you can do to protect yourself and your family and friends from heat. If spending time outdoors remember to take water or other hydrating drinks with you and protect yourself from the sun during the hottest hours of the day, usually between 11am and 3pm.

We are dedicated to providing the highest quality care to our patients. To help make consultations more efficient, our clinicians may use the Heidi Health Scribe tool during your appointment. Your consent is required before the tool can be used.

Heidi Health Scribe is a secure, advanced digital assistant that helps clinicians during consultations. It assists in documenting medical notes, allowing your clinician to focus on listening to your concerns and providing personalised care, rather than manually writing notes. All notes captured by the tool are reviewed and approved by the clinician before being added to your medical record.

⭐️Benefits of Heidi⭐️

-Enhanced Patient Interaction: Enables clinicians to concentrate fully on the patient during consultations, improving communication and care.

-Accurate and Clear Documentation: Supports the creation of detailed and precise medical notes for the patient’s health record.

-Greater Time Efficiency: Reduces administrative workload, allowing clinicians to dedicate more time to patient care.

Your privacy and comfort are very important to us. Heidi Health Scribe only processes information shared during your consultation and operates in full compliance with strict privacy and data protection standards. Before using the tool, your clinician will explain how it works and ask for your verbal consent. You are free to decline its use at any time.

Shires Health Care will start to use Heidi Health from Monday 30th June 2025. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask your clinician.
