Shoreham Homoeopathy

Shoreham Homoeopathy Therese Eriksen is an experienced registered homeopath, specialising in trauma.

Consultation with registered homeopath Therese Eriksen RSHom, SDSHom. Suitable for children and adults. Remedy included.
Chronic dis-ease arises when we reach overload (of toxicity/emotional distress/physical stress). Symptoms can appear as mental, emotional and/or physical manifestations of this inward dysregulation.

Homeopathy, this safe and gentle system of medicine, can help to restore equilibrium to our very being, so that we can return to fulfilling our potential in life.

The skilled homeopath will sensitively help the patient explore where the issues lie so that the journey to full health can unfold.

Remedies are prescribed at each consultation based on the totality of symptoms, made from the plant, animal and mineral kingdoms, with the substance that most closely resonates with the underlying state using the “law of similars”.

Due to their ultra-high dilutions, homeopathic remedies can be used by people of any age, even new born babies and pregnant or breast-feeding women.

What does true health mean to you?

Is it just the absence of symptoms?

Or being free from disease? (or dis-ease)

The founder of homoeopathy, Samuel Hahnemann, said it beautifully over 200 years ago and to me, it remains true to this day.

He states that when a person is truly healthy—meaning the vital force is in harmonious balance—the result is:

“…the rational spirit that resides in us can freely employ this living, healthy instrument for the higher purposes of our existence.”

In other words, the outcome of true healing is not just physical well-being, but the freedom to fulfil our higher purpose—to think clearly, act intentionally, and live in alignment with our deeper aims. To shine!

This week, I will explore this theme in more depth.

If it resonates with you as something you would like to explore, I'd love to hear from you.

Never tried homoeopathy before?

A common question I hear is: “What happens in a consultation?”

A first appointment usually lasts about an hour.
We talk about:

• your main symptoms
• when they started and what triggers them
• sleep, energy and digestion
• emotional and stress factors
• your general health history

This helps me find the remedy that matches YOU as an individual, not just the diagnosis.

Homoeopathy isn’t only for coughs and colds. People come for support with:

• allergies and hay fever
• skin problems
• hormonal issues
• stress, burnout and emotional overwhelm
• digestive problems
• long-standing health issues

If you’re curious but unsure whether it could help you, you’re welcome to ask questions before booking.

Message me or book an appointment if you'd like to explore whether homoeopathy could help.

The Gifts of The Mother 💖

The photo is of my lovely mum and my first-born. I love the fact that my beautiful daughter was carried, as an egg, inside me when I was in my mother's womb. It's magical.

Mother’s Day can bring many different feelings.

For some people it is a day of love and gratitude.

For others it can stir grief, loss, complicated relationships, or the absence of the nurturing they needed.

Or all of the above.

In homoeopathy there is a group of remedies sometimes called the matronal remedies — remedies made from substances connected to pregnancy, birth and early nourishment.

These include remedies prepared from placenta, umbilical cord, amniotic fluid, vernix, breast milk and oxytocin.

They are often used when someone’s story touches the very earliest experiences of life — bonding, safety, nurture, belonging, or the sense of being welcomed into the world.

When those early layers are supported, people often describe a deeper feeling of being supported, grounded and able to move forward.

On Mother’s Day it feels fitting to acknowledge that the mother–child relationship can be profoundly healing, but also profoundly wounding — and that healing is possible at every stage of life.

Homoeopathy isn’t just for colds.

People come to homoeopathy for support with:

• Digestive problems
• Hormonal changes
• Sleep difficulties
• Stress and burnout
• Skin conditions
• Recurrent illness

Homoeopathy looks at the whole person, not just the diagnosis.

Many people first think of homoeopathy for things like colds, flu or hay fever.

But in practice, most people come for something that has been affecting their quality of life for quite some time.

Digestive problems that never quite settle.

Sleep that isn’t refreshing.

Hormonal changes that feel overwhelming.

Stress that the body never seems to fully recover from.

Homoeopathy works by looking at the pattern of symptoms across the whole person — physical, emotional and mental — rather than focusing on a single diagnosis.

When the right remedy is chosen, people often find that several seemingly unrelated symptoms begin to improve together.

Sometimes the body simply needs the right support to restore balance.

🫖Sourdough Scones🫖

Ingredients:

250 g plain flour
1½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
40 g butter (cold, cubed)
1 tbsp sugar (optional)
100 g active sourdough starter (discard works well)
80–100 ml milk (or enough to bring the dough together)
1 egg (optional, for a richer scone)
Extra milk for brushing

Method:

Heat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan) and line a baking tray with parchment.
In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
Rub the cold butter into the flour with your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in the sourdough starter.
Add the milk (and egg if using) and gently bring the dough together. Do not overmix.
Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat it to about 2–3 cm thick.
Cut into rounds or heart shapes for Mother’s Day.
Place on the baking tray and brush the tops lightly with milk.
Bake for 12–15 minutes until risen and lightly golden.
Cool slightly before serving.

To serve:

Split while warm and serve with homemade crème fraîche and jam.

For a Mother’s Day touch, serve with tea and enjoy slowly.

🌻 Hay fever season is coming — and it doesn’t affect everyone in the same way.

Some people struggle with streaming, itchy eyes, others with a blocked nose, sneezing, or fatigue.

The key to feeling better isn’t just masking symptoms — it’s supporting your body with remedies that match your individual pattern.

Early, tailored support makes a real difference before symptoms peak.

Patients tell me that an early spring and autumn boost, along with indicated remedies during the hay fever season supports them best.

If hay fever hits you every spring, now is the best time to book in for an appointment. Relief is more effective when it’s personalised.

🫙 Wondering if your sauerkraut (or other fermented veg) is ready to eat?

Don’t rely on days alone — the real answer is in taste, smell, and texture.

Here’s how to check:

* Taste – tangy and pleasantly sour, not just salty.
* Smell – fresh and pleasantly fermented, not musty.
*Activity – bubbles will slow down; they don’t need to stop completely.

Remember: readiness isn’t about a fixed number of days. It’s about the flavour and aroma you enjoy.

Once it tastes right to you, it’s time to refrigerate and enjoy.

Here I've used carrot and ginger, I love it! I find it's usually ready in 3-4 days.

Many of the people who sit in my clinic are the strong ones.

They function.

They cope.

They carry more than most people realise.

Until the body starts whispering.

Fatigue. Migraines. Hormonal shifts. Anxiety that wasn’t there before.

These aren’t random and you don't have to live with them.

They’re patterns. Clues.

I listen for those clues. And, if the course of action is not clear at first, I take some time after the consultation to ponder, review the notes, peruse my books and give you the consideration you deserve.

I explained more about how we look at patterns in Monday’s post — if this strikes a chord with you, have a read.

If you want to change from being someone who copes to someone who thrives, let's talk.

You’ve cleaned up your diet, added ferments, cut sugar… and yet bloating, fatigue, skin flares, or digestive discomfort persist.

When symptoms continue despite doing “everything right,” it’s usually a sign that the system needs deeper, individualised support — not that you’re failing.

Food builds foundations, but sometimes the body needs more subtle, systemic help. This is where homoeopathy can make a difference, supporting long-term gut balance and overall wellbeing.
