Sara Hemsley Therapy

Sara Hemsley Therapy I see clients in Shoreham-By-Sea and Hove. Counselling for anxiety, depression, historical abuse, building self-esteem, loss and more

Hello, are you feeling like you need someone to speak to, in a safe environment? Away from judgment, where you are free to explore your experiences and focus on yourself? Do you need help processing events in your life – past or present – or feel anxious, depressed, angry or alone? Counselling allows you a protected space to dedicate to your mental health, to acknowledge the difficult feelings you are experiencing, explore the cause of them, and learn how to move forward. I am here to listen to your story and anything you wish to bring to our sessions at the pace you wish to work at. Together, we can build a respectful and trusting therapeutic relationship where you feel empowered to challenge what is holding you back, and I will support you in making positive changes to feel more control in your life. I am an Integrative Humanistic counsellor, my main modality is The Person-Centred Approach. I value your autonomy so you can use the space as you wish – you are the expert of your own experiences – but I will make observations and ask questions I feel are helpful. I will also use aspects from other theories, to see which methods best suit your needs.

I am currently available to see clients in Shoreham-By-Sea on Tuesday afternoons.

knows that avoiding grief doesn’t protect us—it keeps us in the dark. After losing his father and two brothers in a plane crash when he was just 10, he’s spent a lifetime learning how to live with grief and how it can shape you in profound ways.

In his conversation with "Sunday Sitdown" host Willie Geist, Colbert reminds us that talking about grief isn’t something to fear; it’s something that can bring us closer.

“I’m glad that my experience, in some way, is meaningful … that there is spiritual nourishment that can come from accepting your grief and the circumstances of your life,” he says.

Losing a loved one can be one of the most challenging experiences we face. Discover how counselling can help you navigate your grief journey. Read more: https://wix.to/QpOBNlT

Losing a loved one is unfortunately something most of us experience at some point in our lives, yet its impact on us is so personal. It can be easy to compare our grief to others, and believe our feelings are “wrong” or “inappropriate”, especially if we come from families who did not speak o...

With Father's Day this Sunday it is an opportunity to honour the father figures in our lives.

However, for those of us who have lost our fathers, have a strained relationship or no relationship with them, or are fathers but for any reason cannot celebrate it with their children, it can be a difficult time of year with many different emotions. Seeing the cards in the shops, the TV adverts or innocent questions from others about our plans for Father's Day can feel isolating if your experience doesn't match the general circumstances of others.

If you find yourself struggling this time of year it's important to take some time for yourself. Do what you love and be around people who support you.

If you can relate to this experience and feel it's something you need to explore in counselling or you have questions about counselling you are welcome to get in touch.

April is Stress Awareness Month. Stress is an unavoidable part of our lives and can have a significant impact on our wellbeing. For more information on the impact of stress and how counselling can help, give my blog post a read:

“Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, including you.” - Anne LamottMost, if not all of us are familiar with the term 'stress'. The World Health Organisation defines it as "a state of worry or mental tension caused by a difficult situation". It is a normal respons...

Death does not sever the bonds of our relationships, the depth of our love, or the resilience of our hope. These enduring aspects continue to live within us, guiding and reminding us that our connections transcend physical presence.
